My husband and I just booked our first Disney cruise - our first cruise ever! - and now need to figure out transportation from Orlando airport. We are flying in Saturday evening and will be staying at a hotel near the airport since we get in late.

My question is should we take the Disney transfer bus or rent a car? There are only the 2 of us so limo/town car is too expensive. We desperately want to make Palo and spa reservations - if we take the first Disney transfer bus - will that get us to the cruise in time? Is it hard to drive to Port Canaveral by ourselves? My main concerns are cost and getting to the ship early enough.

Oh - we are sailing June 27-July 1 on the Wonder. I am sure I will have further questions as we go along - this board has been great!

One other thing - any cheap hotels we should look into? We are currently booked by our TA at the Sheraton for $69.

Thanks!!

We are also going on our first cruise May 20th. After looking at all the suggested transportation ways we found that Budget has a 41.00 a day charge. We got a car to take us from our Orlando hotel to the cruise terminal. Then my husband will drop us off and take the car back to Budget which is not far from the terminal and they will bring him back. It is cheaper than any other transportation and we can stop if we want to stores, etc. Hope this helps!

You may want to see if you can get Budget cheaper than that. I know it depends a lot on the time of the year, but I recommend going to www.hotwire.com and using their one way rentals link to go to the Budget website. It will automatically fill in a code. We usually use Happy Limo, but for our Feb. cruise we tried budget s reseach for my CD planner (I wanted to be able to give information from firsthand experience). I don't remember the exact price, but it was definitely under $40.
