Help my poor nose! Warning - TMI!!

I have been sick with a cold for a week. My poor nose has these sores right inside on the bottom and sides from all the blowing and it almost seems like the skin has torn away and there are scabs there now. It absolutely KILLS to move or touch my nose because of these sores. What can I put in my nose that might help? Anyone ever have this happen?

Use puffs plus with lotion, they don't irritate as much.

I agree with the lanolin suggestion. That stuff is great. If you don't have it maybe some goop you put on scrapes/cuts.

You need to be careful about keeping those places clean also.

Next time, before it gets that bad, try using Vick's Vapor Rub. Honest to God, it is great for chapped areas like that. Use it around your nose and under your lips (you know how lots of times kids will get chapped around their mouths from the cold and licking their lips to keep them moist?!). It burns a little when first applied but stops and works wonders.

Thanks for all the advice! I will have to send DH out for some of the items mentioned. I cannot believe we don't even have vasoline in this house!

I better get better ASAP, I am leaving for WDW in 7 days and I will NOT be sick on vacation!!!!

Oh, I wouldn't put that Vick vaper rub directly on the nose. It says right o nthe label not to do that. Having the vapors directly on or under the nose is not healthy. That is only to be rubbed on your chest at night so that you get the vapor from a safe distance. Even though it helps with chapping, that is just because it has a veseline type base. Vaseline will do the same job.

I agree with Vaseline. You can also use aloe vera but I would avoid putting anything inside my nose.

Wear a nice wooly hat/cap. It will help keep your head warm.

What about some neosporin?? Would that help? I use that stuff on EVERYTHING!

Yep! Vicks is great but would burn and sting like the dickens at this point. Definitely try the vaseline or neosporin which actually is vaseline/petroleum jelly with antibacterial additives. I use aquafor on my babies chapped skin. You could try that, too.

It's made just for this type of problem. I think it has a Vicks type medicine in it and then something to keep your nose Moist helping it from drying out. It works great.

We use a little bacitracin to fix the problem. You should have some relief pretty quick.

Eucerin.

You have to ask for it at the pharmacy, but it's not prescription.

It looks like vaseline and feels like it, but it actually soaks into the skin and moiturizes it, rather than just protect it as plain vaseline does.

Don't get me wrong, if you can't get Eucerin (it's expensive and I only learned about it from my dd's pediatrician), vaseline is the next best thing.

Now if they would only make Eucerin lip tubes like Vaseline does....

My daughter just had this problem this week, slathered Bacitracin all over the bad area (inside too) and when she woke up it was "magically" all better. (her words, lol)

I'm sure Neosporin or any antibiotic ointment would work just as well.

I used to use Vaseline, but I found out that the Neosporin Ointment WITH PAIN RELIEVER works the best for me. I smear it all over the end of my nose/upper lip area and I also put some on q-tips and spread it inside the bottoms of my nostrils (use a separate q-tip each time you need to add more Neosporin). The pain reliever really works well to soothe the skin.
