Well, we are 9 days from sailing and I finally decided to order gift baskets. I wasn't going to do it (trying to keep within our budget and all) but I got to thinking about the fact that it was our anniversary and I really should suprise hubby. And then of course, I need to suprise the kids to.

So, here's what I'm thinking:

DD(10)
Drawing pad & markers/pencils/crayons
DS(6)
Small toys to mess with in the cabin (hot wheels cars, maybe)

DH-Anniversary
6 Snapple Peach Ice Tea (his favorite)
A cheap $15 watch (long story, he lost his on our last disney trip and has been wearing his "dress" watch for a few months now and hates it)

Anyway, that's it! I can't come up with enough items to make baskets. I want one basket for the kids together and one basket for DH. I don't want to do food because there will be plenty on the ship. Help me come up with a few more items to fill the baskets.

Thanks! I know you guys have done this before....what have you put in your baskets?

To avoid paying the DCL imposed $7 per basket delivery fee, I combined ours into one. S hirley did a GREAT job. I have photo's, I'm going to hopefully get them up tonight.

Here's what was in ours:

bottle of Chardonnay
6 pack Molson Ice
6 pack Brisk iced tea
disposable waterproof camera
Mad Magazine (DS is 16)
Sand Toys (for same DS...he wants to be a Lost Boy and never grow up)
Doritos
Jelly Bellys
Salsa
Twigs and Bark (We never ate any of the food!)
Paddles with a ball
beach ball
Safe Sea

I want to think there was more, but can't recall what it was.

How about a kite (disney of course) for the kids to fly on castaway cay -- they will be the envy of all around them!

Fancy sunscreen for kids -- the kind that goes on in a color such a blue and disappears in a short time. Or maybe the kind with sparkles in it for DD.

Chapstick with sunscreen protection for everyone.

sunglasses

hats

disney money -- send down to shirley ahead of time and she can include it in the basket or you could just slip it in once you arrive in the room.

Sonya...

I'd call Shirley with your reqests...and then let her do the rest.

You will NOT be disappointed, I promise.

Natsmom: I already called Shirley but she needs a little more input from me before she can do it so I was looking for anniversary ideas and kid ideas(6 & 9). And, I agree that there is no reason to put food in as there is plenty of food on the boat for free.

Thanks for the ideas so far....are there any more?

Hi Sonya. Ok, here are a few recommendations.

For the kids:

1) A pair of binoculars for each to look at sealife as well as other ships in the distance.

2) Cheapo walkie talkies (do they exist?) especially for you to share with DD - even with the pagers from the Oceaneers Lab these came in handy for my son and I.

3) A disposable camera for each child and allow them to take whatever pictures they wish. It can prove to be an interesting collectable of the vacation from their point of view.

For you husband, the only accessory I am able to think of would be to ask Shirley if she can find an inexpensive sundial for you husbband to replace the watch.

Wishing you a wonderful cruise.

My kids favorite things: Underwater carmera, sunglasses (Shirley has some nice ones for kids) swim goggles, Disney straws.

DH loves his basket with beer(LaBatts Blue his fav) and snacks.

This year I am doing beach towels for both kids and DH, and underwater carmers again. I did not want to pack beach towels and I always wind up buying them as souviners(sp). The kids still have sunglasses and goggles from last year.

OK here's what we've got so far:

DD(10) & DS(6):
Hot Wheels cars (DS), disposable underwater camera(DS), sunglasses(DS), Drawing Pad & markers/pencils/crayons (DD), disposable underwater camera(DD), Sunglasses (DD), glittery lip gloss(DD)

Can you get kids binoculars really cheap that are decent at all? Does Shirley have these? What about one more small toy to keep DS entertained around the cabin? Hey, does Shirley have beanie babies? How about Disney Beanies? DH loves Genie from Aladin and sorcerer Mickey...do these come in beanies?

Can Shirley buy stuff from the gift shop on the ship? Probably not but I was planning to buy DD a lanyard on board and it would have been cool to have that in the basket.

Now DH's anniversary basket is looking slim:
Peach Snapple Ice Tea
Cheap Watch-Waterproof

Any more great ideas? What else for DH??

I'm in the same boat (ha ha) since our cruise will be for our honeymoon, and I want to surprise my dh-to-be.

Ideas I've thought of:

- a small, pretty framed picture of the two of us (I was going to get him a new wallet and put a picture in it but he just bought one- the sneak!)
- a t-shirt with his favorite character on it
- a book by his favorite author or one or two of his favorite magazines to read by the pool or on the verandah (like he'll have time)
- a disposable underwater camera (hey, he likes to take pictures too!)
- a nice fanny pack (his is icky and old)
- Sunblock
- My dh-to-be isn't into pins (I am), but if your's is, some to add to the collection and to trade on board
- flowers (yes, guys like them too)
- some of his favorite candy or cookies (yes there is tons of food on board I'm sure but something to snack on by the bed would be nice)
- Disney dollars (just cause)
- a card saying how much I/you love him

Hope some of these ideas help. :teeth:

A couple of other thoughts--

Shirley has Disney playing cards, easy to pack and can be used for a variety of games.

Swim goggles.

A small hip sack for each of tehm to wear on shore excursions.

Travel tic-tac-toe, bingo, etc.

Hello all,
Sonya when we spoke yesterday, sorry I had to leave you, but I had to get to an appointment - Joanne and Pat are awesome with coming up with ideas. As we personalize these baskets, we must get ideas as to likes and dislikes of each family member in order for them to be the special and meaningful for the recipient- Joanne came up with these ideas from your imput to give you a small idea as to what we could do for you and your family within your set budget - Our main focus here at The Perfect Gift is customer satisfaction and strive to fulfill beyond expectation.
Thanks again
Always,
Shirley

Hi Shirley,

I was amazed at how personalized your baskets really are! I had no idea that you guys would put anything we wanted into a gift basket. Talk about service! You guys must go out on quite a few scavenger hunts to secure these basket items!

Anyway, I'm not terribly creative myself but I knew my friends here on the board would have some great ideas for me. I'll be calling back today.
