I've read the stickies and threads and I just want to make sure I have it all down and clear before I purchase.
I want to buy 4 annual passes. I want to buy tickets from undercover tourist with the mousesaver discount and then upgrade them at the park for ap (I know I need to use it at least once before upgrading to bridge the prices)
So what I'm trying to do is figure out the best ticket to buy at UT. What is the gate price that disney uses, the price after tax? So if a ticket is say 350 after taxes at the gate, will i get 350 towards my ap even if i paid let's say 325 for it (making up numbers) ? Or is it the amount pretax and we have to add in the tax for the ap on top?
If anyone knows and wouldn't mind telling me, what do you think is the best savings if my full intention is to upgrade? The gate price has to be below the gate price of the annual pass right? again is this pre or post tax?
Thanks! (I know this might sound confusing...I think I'm confusing myself and cold meds are not helping! lol So thank you for any help!)

Whatever ticket UT has marked as the biggest discount from gate that doesn't exceed the price of the AP you are buying.

Did you read post #18-C of the ticket sticky? I think I did a pretty good job of describing the procedures and what to be aware of.

Thank you that was very helpful (no idea how I missed it the second page...those charts on prices are perfect...I've been going back and forth and the disney site! My head is spinning trying to get everything sorted and in order. Planning this trip when I haven't been here and don't know the ins and outs in a little over a month is hard! lol)

I do still have one question...the part that is most throwing me...the part where the price can't be higher than the ap price. this is all pre tax we're talking about right? So do I remove the tax from the UT price in order to compare?

thank you! Sorry for missing it and making a new post! :)

I do still have one question...the part that is most throwing me...

the part where the price can't be higher than the ap price.

1- this is all pre tax we're talking about right?

2- So do I remove the tax from the UT price in order to compare?

1- Yes.

2- Yes. (Tax is 6.5%.)

BUT-

I do need to point out the the ticket price you need to be concerned about
not being more expensive than the AP...
is the DISNEY PRICE for the same kind of ticket that you are purchasing from UT.

You want to carefully check the discounts on the various UT tickets (they can vary)
and when you find the greatest savings on a particular ticket, (example: 7 Day, plus Hopper, plus NON-Expire)
just make sure that the current DISNEY PRICE
for that same ticket (example: 7 Day, plus Hopper, plus NON-Expire)
is lower than the Disney Price of the AP to which you want to upgrade.

The answer to this one is simple. Disney's policy is that, when all is said and done and after the tax is computed, no change is returned to you.

But, I don't believe that's what the OP was asking.

The OP's question is about comparing Disney's price list with the UT price list.
The Disney list does not have the tax included and the UT list does have the tax included.

To compare the actual cost of the tickets, either add 6.5% to the Disney price, or remove 6.5% from the UT price.

Robo~~ Please bare with me.......:confused3 I need to upgrade our 4day UT tickets that include the 5th day free. When upgrading to an AP do I figure in the gate price for a 5 day MYW base ticket price then deduct that from the $574 for the AP:confused3

I paid $250 for each 4/5 day ticket. At the gate a 5 day is $268 w/o tax. So.........do i pay the difference of $306 for each of our tickets and also add the Tax ? That's where I'm very confused.

Could you kindly help me out. I have read all the stickys and also Figments but I have never dealt with upgrading a UT ticket before.

Thank You
Liz

The "5th day free" thing is marketing only. You simply have a 5-day MYW ticket I believe--use that in your calculations.

And, no offense, but I don't think Robo will bare with you. ;)

I know I should have worded that differently:rotfl2:
So...do I add the tax in on top of the $306 difference:

In my calculations I'm getting $574(AP)- $268 w/o tax gate price) = $306. Do I still owe addtl. tax. Or when you bridge the tickets the tax is automatically added in? So we would just owe the $306 for each ticket:confused:
Sorry..... so very confused

Also, we have breakfast at Cape May. Will I be able to run to guest services around 9AM to do the upgrade at the international gateway so I could use our TIW:)

Thank You
Liz

No worries, these upgrades can be pretty math-intensive. As I understand it, you'll still pay tax (6.5%) on the difference (the $306). Probably best to wait for an answer from Robo or CF if you must be sure.

I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to use the GR at IG to do the upgrade then.

As I posted a few days ago, make sure you double check the expiration date printed on the back of your new AP, the other day ours was wrong, but we caught it before we left GS. You can probably still get it changed, but its easier if you catch it before you walk out the door.

Thank You:) so as I understand you I'll have to add 6.5% on the $306?

Do you know what time the International GS opens?

Thanks Again

Thank you for the heads up. I'll be sure to check the expiration dates while we're standing there.

I believe CF has posted that they open at least 30 minutes before park open. If I understand that right, that means no later than 8:30a.

And yes on the $306 x 1.065.

Thank you so much for all your help:thumbsup2

With our budget in mind for the 3 of us I was hoping to get away with under $1000 including TIW, but that's gone up too:confused3

Here's hoping the weather isn't too cold..Last January was beautiful.

Oops!

CF has posted that they open at least 30 minutes before GUESTS are admitted to a park.
That includes for early ADR's and for AM EMH.

So for a 9AM opening (but with the traditional 8:05AM ADR seatings,) Ticketing and Guest Relations would be open by about 7:30.
