Help me spend my $$$

I unexpectedly earned a $100 bonus at work today--cash in hand. All extra, unexpected bucks that come my way go into the Disney "food and extras" stash. But this is a little more than quarters from the couch. So, I want to use it in some special way--something over and above what we'd usually do in the parks.

It's just DH and me going mid-November. We're staying at the HOJO. On vacation for for 7 days. Going to Universal for 1 day. Beach for another day. 5 days DL/DCA.

We love good food. We're not into character meals. (A couple of years ago we were the only ones at the restaurant at the PPH, and we were accosted numerous times by Pluto during our meal. We just can't take the pressure of it! <wink>) I'm in a minimalist mode at the moment, so major souvenirs don't interest me.

I'm thinking, maybe an 11:30 PS at Blue Bayou, hopefully with a riverside table? I wasn't going to do this since I can get a cheaper Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans and be just fine with that, but now . . . ?

The Fantasmic dessert thing? Not something I'd really ever consider normally, but maybe?

Any other ideas? Non-food ideas are great, too. Even non-Disney ideas. Talk me into something!

I think that the two of you should buy some clothes from Disneyland or Unversal (i.e. sweatshirts or T-shirts.) and if the two of you still don't spend it al; put some in a jar (or bank) and start your saving for another trip to Disneyland!

YAY!!! THIS IS MY 100TH POST!!!!! WOO-HOO!

20 Caramel covered apples rolled in peanuts eaten in front of the castle while watching the parade then followed by fireworks.

Oooo! I LOVE THEM APPLES almost as much as I LOVE THAT MOUSE!!!!!

If you like thrills, then look into "Ifly Hollywood" its an indoor sky diving adventure at Universal studio's City walk. You are in a big wind tunnel floating in mid air. 2 jumps each for like $56

Also down in the city walk down by the Hard Rock Cafe there is a small jewelry store which sells good quality jewelry for really awesome prices. You can get gorgeous chains and rings and such for like $12-20 each.

I'd do Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour over the Fantasmic seating. (it's no longer a dessert buffet - just a small box of snacks - and Mid-Nov shouldn't be so busy that you have a hard time getting a good place to watch the show)

Everyone I've "talked" to (online) who has done WIWF tour loved it and says it is SO worth it!

"We love good food."

As much as I enjoyed our time at Blue Bayou, I'm not sure I could really say that you will 100% sure get good food there. :)

BUT you could put some of the money towards a dessert at BB.

Are there things at DLR that you usually pass up b/c of money? Perhaps put it towards some of those things you normally pass up.

Think about getting a photopass or getting in on a share. It is really fun as a couple to get your pics taken around the parks and not have to worry about getting the kids to smile and looking all the same direction. It would be a great way to have some pictures of you both in the parks. Then maybe you could buy a nice frame at DLR to put your favorite pic in. :goodvibes

You could get a brick installed out side Dl and see it when you go in Nov!

A nice meal is always good. DH and I, on a few occasions, have had something special made up for us in that glass shop in NOS. When we first got married it was matching Mickey and Minnie wine glasses with our names put on them. Last June for our Anniversary we had a glass picture frame engraved with our names and anniversary date, along with how many years. It has Mickey and Minnie in wedding attire on it. Those are always special keep sakes for us.

Do you recall how much the frame cost? Our engraved wedding frame just broke and I am looking for a replacement. That would be very special to us because we love DL so much.

Oh I want to know too! That is a great idea. I have been trying to think of something I can do special for DH for our 5th Anniversay trip in a couple weeks. I have gotten many great ideas from here and I am always looking for more! How long did it take to make? A day or two? Later the same day?

On one of our trips last year we bought the Thomas Kinkade 50th Anniversary print and had it framed. It is hanging in our dinning room and looks wonderful! Maybe make a stop in Disneyana and see if you find anything there.

Last year for DH's b-day I bought him the alabaster Partner's statue. It's part of the Arribas Brothers collection, signed and #'d. It is going on a shelf by the picture.

I really like having souvenirs that will last for a very long time. Not that t-shirts, sweatshirts, and stuffed Mickey's aren't great, they are, but these are extra special to us :goodvibes

First choice, tickets to Wicked.
The way things have been going for me lately, if I were going somewhere without my kids alone with DH, I'd get his and hers/couples massage.
Or a get a limo to go see Hollywood.
At the WoD store in DtD they have artwork that you can order. They're prints, but they're very high quality and you can pick out your favorite characters. I did that for my mom's b-day, and then got it framed and matted when we got home.

I want to say it was around $60 with the engraving. It was done in just a few hours. We put in our order, and came back later in the day to pick it up! :)

They've got a lot of neat stuff that they'll engrave in there. I know what you mean, all the other souvenirs are nice, but these are things you really cherish!

I'll see if I can take a picture of it and post it later for you guys! :)

I think the Walk in Walt's Footsteps would be something that we both would really enjoy. On the description I read on this site, it says the tour includes a meal on the Disney Gallery porch/veranda/patio/whatever. I'm assuming that it's not there anymore because of the Dream Suite. Anyone know where it is now? Hopefully someplace cool!

I wondered the same thing when I signed up -- I'll be taking the AWIWF tour next week, so I'll be sure to post where the lunch is held! :thumbsup2

I think they are still in the process of putting it somewhere else, so I'm not sure what they would offer in it's place at this time.

This is what I'd do with the money:

1. Get in on a photopass share
2. Walk in Walt's Footstep Tour
3. Dessert at Blue Bayou Restaurant

It may be a little over $100, but you'd get all of them in! :thumbsup2

Also, for the frame, I'm sure you could find a nice one online to have engraved if you can't find an engraved Disney one (try Things Remembered)
