Help Me Spend $500 Bonus

Nine days before WDW and I received a totally unexpected $500 bonus from my business partners. They insist that I use it for our WDW trip (who am I to argue?).

We already have a very magical 8 nights planned, have extended once and don't have the flexibility to add more days. We have booked Keys to the Kingdom Tour, Illuminations Cruise, Castle dinner, 'Ohana and other great PS, and I plan to buy two Pal Mickeys (one for me, one for nephew). This is our first trip with family (my Brother, Nephew, Sister-in-law and her Mom).

Any ideas for $500 worth of extra pixie dust for DH and my wonderful family?

How lucky can you get! That's great for you! Here's a couple of thoughts;

1) How about a spa experience. Maybe a massage, manicure, pedicure, and/or facial.

2) Since this is your first family trip, maybe a professional photograph from a Disney photographer in the park of your choice.

3) Check out Cirque de Soleil at Downtown Disney. What a show they put on!

4) At Uptown Jewelers on Main Street in MK, you can purchase a watch with original artwork of your favorite character on the dial face.

When are you going? you could purchase tickets for MMVCP.

How about afternoon tea at the GF (they even have a childrens tea... chocolate milk. )

You could always go to a spa for the day.

Ask everyone what is the one thing that they would like to have most as a souvnier.

POR offers a carriage ride, that I hear is very nice.

How about another tour, say Disney's Yuletide Fantasy.

I do feel lucky! Just being able to go to WDW is a blessing, but it is so amazing when hard work is recognized and rewarded!

How could I have forgotten about the spa! I once gave DH a professional massage certificate for his birthday and he still talks about it! And the professional photos are a perfect idea!

Never knew about the watches and Cirque is under consideration--we've seen Mystere and Draillion and loved them.

I will look into all your suggestions. Thank you so much! I learn new things every day on the DIS Boards!

We will be there nov 9th through the 27th. My son loves anything with Mickey, I prefer Jiminy gifts. We both love to eat with the Characters. I really appreciate the offer to help spend your bonus - TALK ABOUT PIXIE DUST!! You are a PRINCESS!!

This very thing happened to me when I was planning my 5/03 trip. I also posted a thread for ideas on how to spend that "unexpected bonus". I received a lot of great ideas, but did not bite on the idea I should have, and now I am regretting it. So, I will pass my hard lesson on to you. If you don't have AP's buy them, or upgrade your existing passes to AP's! Here I am, heading back to WDW in Jan, and buying passes AGAIN!! Why didn't I get the AP's??!! Ugh! Congrats on that unexpected windfall!!

Yes, Cirque is great but i would vote to being practical. Upgrade to an AP if you don't already have one. Then plan a second trip before they expire.

I'm intrigued by the AP suggestion. We have length of stay/UPH with Fairy Tale Package for this trip. What would be involved in upgrading to APs?

Use it as a down payment on Saratoga Springs Resort points with the Disney Vacation Club. It will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Barbeml, Disney will not allow you to modify the Fairytale Vacation Package, so if you want to purchase AP's wait until your next trip to do so. The FVP has such an incredible rate it would be a shame to lose it!

Cirque is an excellent suggestion. Putting the $500 into a short term Certificate of Deposit might also reap enough dividend to give you a nice, unexpected trip in the near future, too!
