We got here last Sunday and have been having a fabulous trip! We've done everything in Magic Kingdom except for Space Mountain, the riverboat, and country bear jamboree. We met Anna & Elsa.

We're done both Star Wars character meals and thoroughly did Hollywood Studios...the only thing we didn't do that we wanted to was the Indiana Jones and car stunt show.

We've browsed EPCOT for 2 days.

It was awesome and magical. Magic bands work great. We haven't waited in line more than 10 minutes for ANYTHING. One day we used 7 FP+s as we kept going back for more.

Here's the problem--I have a terrible ear and throat infection. I feel awful. I went to the local doc-in-a-box place today and $320 later I have 2 prescriptions.

We're here with a VERY active 2 year old, 4 year old, and 7 year old. We were going to go to Animal Kingdom tomorrow but I'm not sure I'm up to it...and I'm not sure we can stay in the room either. We've been in the room all afternoon and it was more exhausting than the day we spent 14 1/2 hours at Hollywood Studios. These kids just can't "hang out."

My husband is a stay-at-home dad so he can handle all 3 kids, but I hate to send him to the parks alone.

And we don't really know what we're supposed to do these last 4 days. We haven't done AK at all, but we've done so much at MK and HS that I'm not sure how we'll spend more time there. But we still have the H&V character meal on Sunday, but I hate to waste a park day there.

Our children are absolutely no fun in stores, so don't mention Downtown Disney. That doesn't sound fun at all.

What do we do? We have until Tuesday and I'm quite puny. We have 3 active kids, one not quite 2. Our trip has been wonderful but is quickly going downhill.

Send dad and the kids out to the park of their choice and you enjoy some quiet time alone in the hotel room recouperating and letting those antibiotics kick in. Do this for tomorrow only and then tomorrow night reaccess the situation. I'm betting that things will be brighter after you've had some rest and quiet and you and your family can make a plan for your remaining days tomorrow night. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!!

What did the doc-in-a-box treat you for? Virus? Ear infection? Strep?

That's going to make a difference in whether you should be in the parks and what your hope is for a quick turnaround.

I think it would probably be best for you and for the kids for your husband to take them to one of the parks tomorrow so you can get some quality rest and give the meds a chance to work. You're going to need your strength in case case the kids get it next.

Animal Kingdom is really doable with the kids - Safari is great, and there are two walking trails where you can see lots of animals and go at your own pace. Not high intensity stuff. The train to rafik is planet watch is also pretty low key and you could find a nice place to sit there while they explore. The most fabulous thing for your kids though might be the Boneyard, the playground in Dinoland. They can run around and play to their hearts' content in there! There are CM's at the exits so if your husband was there alone with the kids it would be doable. Alternatively, there is a great shaded area where you could sit near one of the exits and hang out while they play, and conserve your energy, if you did go. Also AK is not necessarily a full park day for us, so might be a great choice for you while you are waiting for your meds to kick in!

Meant to add that I think that if he is a SAHD, he can totally handle AK - then maybe when you're feeling better they will ant to take you there to show you all they like there!

Let him take them to the parks alone. He can handle it. YOU need to rest. You need to keep your sick self away from everyone else. Just laze around in the room, nap, watch some Stacey-TV, just zone out. Let them have fun, and you heal up.

I also think that AK is very doable with one parent. It's also a lot of walking so a great way to get the kids really, really tired out. There is a new(ish) game there called Wilderness Explorers...kids get a little booklet and then earn "badges" (stickers) by completing activities around the park. It will keep them busy for an entire day without going on any rides! I think if you take one day and really get some rest you'll feel a lot better.

Good luck!

Send them to the pool in the morning. Then they can go do some resort hopping/exploring. Have they been to see the Art of Animation Resort?

It sounds like you're also worried about how to fill the time you have left. Plan some pool time for the kids while you rest, and once you're feeling better check out one of the campfires at Fort Wilderness, have a sleep-in day, go to AKL to see the animals on the savannah, cruise the Boardwalk to watch the entertainers...

Thanks for all the advice! I have a middle and outer ear infection...it's very painful! The throat is related to the ear infection, apparently. :confused3

It was nice because CareCentra or whatever they're called picked me up at our resort and had me back within an hour an a half. Thankfully, I have trip insurance so that should cover it.

We didn't realize 10 days would be SO MUCH!! In 3 days in MK we've ridden every single ride. There are things we haven't done (like Sorcerers of the MK) but our 2 boys both have autism so some of that is above their head. We're missing our 2 foster children at home including a foster baby who is now 4 months old and who we've had since he was 3 days old, and the kids have so much energy all the time, and I'm feeling bad....and I just want to finish this trip as great as we started it.

I think you should take some time off and rest and try to take care of yourself!!

Send them to the pool. In a trip that long, I'd totally take a day off in the middle anyway. Relax at the pool, walk around the resorts, explore things leisurely. If you feel up to it, then you lay by the pool too.

The next day, go to AK and take it in. It can be a slow park wandering around looking at animals and then playing in the Boneyard.

Your health is most important -- ear infections suck and they're incredibly painful!! Take care of yourself and let your husband take some of the burden right now.

Hope you feel better!

Ugh so sorry:(. For what it's worth I got an ear infection last year on vacation and it was horrible!! I also went to a quick care for antibiotics, started them right away, and felt MUCH better within a day or two. So don't lose hope!!!

As others have said, send the family to AK so you can sleep and rest. They will probably be back in the afternoon, so plan some pool time. If you are up to it, join them, if not go back to bed. Hopefully you will be much better after a day of rest and meds.

OMG totally send DH to AK with the kids! I think you'll feel so relieved when they're gone, knowing you have time to rest and let the drugs kick in :thumbsup2. You'll have such a better chance of finishing the trip on a high note if you can get yourself healthy and in a better frame of mind.

As far as what to do with your remaining days, revisiting some of your favorites in the parks is one way to go, also mini golf as someone suggested-WinterSummerland is lots of fun and easy. Visiting resorts like AOA could also be fun for the kids, although not always easy and can be time consuming as far as transportation. Besides shops DTD has bowling and a movie theatre. But above all, I hope the meds work fast and you and your family can enjoy a couple more days of Disney :)

Which resort are you in?

If it were me, I would see if we could get in on any of the special events, where a CM entertains the kids, and the parents are either not needed at all, or just there to watch. The Family Magic Tour. The Pirate cruises.

It's probably a little too late but whenever you feel bad like that and go to the doc tell them that you want a steroid shot. That's the quickest way to get to feeling better.

I work pretty much every day and don't have time to be sick so when it gets to the point that I'm feeling bad enough to stay home it's straight to the doc for a shot and antibiotics.

I had what sounds like the same thing you had last winter. Just felt like a bad sore throat and when I got in they said double ear infection. Got the shot and was feeling better by that evening and the next day I felt 1000 times better.

Good luck and hope you feel better.
