Well not physically. What I am looking for is some input as to what would be on your dream kitchen "wish list" or something that you have in your kitchen that you can't live without.

We will be starting the remodel sooner than I thought :sunny: and my only definates so far are tinted concrete counter tops and stainless steel applicances.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Might want to rethink those stainless steel appliances. I have a friend with kids about the age of yours, she can't keep them clean with the fingerprints, is now wishing she had gone with black.

Anne

Hmmmmm . . .for me . . .I'd definately love a center island and a double wall oven and a microwave over my stove . . . :sunny:

Hardwood floors, a big stove and refrigerator, alot of storage and counter space.

Hardwood floors

I'm going back and forth on this. As much as I love the look, I love my dogs more. Not so sure that it's practical.

Pull out shelves in all the cabinets. Tip out front under the sink to store sponges. Pull out spice rack. Two words: CONVECTION OVEN!

Anne

built in under-sink water filtration system
double wall oven
grill top in addition to burners on stove top
easily removable counter top drop in for composting
I would customize my cabinets that are under the counters to be drawers instead of traditional cabinets or have slide-outs in the cupboards where pots and pans and cookware go so I don't have to bend down and fish through large cabinets for stuff that easily gets lost.
I would nix the stainless, it can be a pain to keep fingerprints off of and requires a lot of extra buffing/cleaning.

Center island with a small sink, large drop in cutting board area that easily pulls out for cleaning.
Built in wine rack or wine refrigerator

I'd put in a large island to work at and also sit at with high stools, a deep drop in stink, professional stove/oven, top of the line frig. I'd also put in a communications center where you could have a computer and room to file bills and other papers.

Thats on list already.

Anne, your cabinetry inspired me to go for a more "furniture" look :) Are you pleased with it after being there awhile?

A double oven is high on my wish list. I agree with the stainless steel, they look nice for a week and they you are forever scrubbing them. Most people I know with stainless curse it daily. As for the undersink water filtration system, they are great, but have them put the holding tank in your basement if you can, they take up a lot of room under the sink!

In our kitchen...our strangest must have was outlets above the cabinets that were connected to a light switch. Got this idea from a friend and it allows you to put up christmas lights or rope lights as an accent.

We got a tall pantry--and had all drawers put into the lower portion of the pantry--no having to bend over and dig through the caves of the pantry to find things :)

The cabinets on either side of the stove have drawers as well.
(the drawers are inside the cabinet--from the outside it looks like a regular cabinet).

Crown molding was actually an inexpensive addition that added to the look of the kitchen.

We got laminate countertop--but found some colors that were "stone/granite" like in appearance--it certainly doesn't look like the real thing per se--but it doesn't look as "cheap" as a solid color countertop and looks beautiful.

I LOVE it! I was worried it would take a lot of maintenance, but it's actually maintenance free! Are you planning a trip to FL anytime soon? You're more than welcome to come over and take a look if you are.

When we remodeled our kitchen, we worked with a "kitchen designer" because the space was so small. The one thing I absolutely demanded was 27" double wall ovens, set 6" higher than the norm (because I'm tall enough to need it that way). She had to do a series of bends and curves with the cabinets, but I got my ovens. That was almost 20 years ago, and I still love them.

Laminate flooring is a good option for us dog lovers!

My dream kitchen:

-Granite countertops
-Island with seating for 4 (Island cabinetry would be a complementary color to the cabinets)
-Gas Grill
-Stainless Steel appliances and range hood (I bought black cause I was worried about fingerprints, I regret this, now I worry about the dust AND the fingerprints)
-2 sink stations
-2 ovens
-2 dishwashers (this is a DREAM kitchen right?)
-wine fridge
-higher countertops (I'm taller than average women - I'd like an extra inch or two to my countertops)
-BIG pantry
-cupboards with differing heights and some with glass doors -crown moulding
-furniture style cabinetry
-extra lighting
-small computer corner
-wired in sound
-tv

OH MY G!
You want stainless steel appliances.
You can gladly have my stove and hood vent.
I HATE THEM!!!! :sad2:
Always show fingerprints and look greasy.
All the other appliances are ivory with black. :confused3
Oh did I tell you the microwave and coffee maker are black.
My dream would be to have them all white. :wizard:
Bright and clean. :bounce:

I chose porcelain tile for my kitchen and it's been wonderful with my pugs! I have FIVE dogs and they enter/exit the house via doggie door from the kitchen. I selected a mixed tile with all different colors in it: blacks, yellows, terra cotta, dark brown with black grout. You cannot see any dirt on this floor at all!

I have stainless steel appliances and do not have the fingerprint problem. They're beautiful and easy to keep clean.

Also love my dark cherry cabinets, with a corner (lower) lazy susan and island with 2 counter stools.

Wow some really great ideas. I would love to get 2 dishwashers. We are really considering it. One for pots and pans.

So I guess I am off to research more about stainless appliances. I really has my heart set on that.

Keep um coming.

A trivection oven. The microwave is on top of the oven and can also be used as an oven when needed. A built in refridgerator (not subzero because they break a lot). We're building this spring and I'm most excited about my kitchen! I love the concrete countertops but we're going with granite.

If you decide to forego the stainless steel, DO NOT put in a black shiny cooktop!

I can never completely clean away the fingerprints and grease marks on mine. If you could find something with a matte finish, I think it would look cleaner longer.

Pull out shelves in all lower cabinets. I did this in this house and LOVE it.
I have stainless steel appliances. I have found that cleaning them once a week with the stainless steel cleaner almost seems to repel the fingerprints and water marks. I did let it go for a couple of weeks when I had a nasty cold and didn't do my usual cleaning. I really noticed the fingerprints then, but one coat of the cleaner and they look great again!
