Help me remodel my kitchen

Somebody mentioned a grill top in addition to normal burners. I currently have this and HATE it. If it cleaned itself, it would be ok. I can't leave it sitting there dirty (I don't know if it's meant to be like a normal grill and clean it once in a while) I'm afraid it will attract mice if I leave it dirty. I have a white sink so when I put the grill grids in to clean them the whole sink is scratched black so then I have to majorly scrub the black out of my sink also.

Thats on list already.

Anne, your cabinetry inspired me to go for a more "furniture" look :) Are you pleased with it after being there awhile?

Make sure it's a TRUE convection oven. Some ovens thst call themselves convection only have a fan in them to blow the air around. A true convection oven has a seperate heater for the fan so it will blow hot air.

We just moved in Nov. and we have hardwood flooring in the kitchen. It looks great, but we're already having problems. The dog leaves major scratches all over it. The floor has been sealed, but it still is not supposed to have standing water left on it. My sons have both spilt things without telling me and we now already have water stains!! Also, most cleaners will mess up the shine on the finish, so you have to be careful what you clean it with!! What a pain! Even Swiffer wet has dulled the finish.

If I could change it, I would want a tile floor that is the color of dirt, with matching grout! :teeth:

I agree with getting the custom features in the cabinets! Also, I think you can get stainless steel appliances that are resistant to smudges and fingerprints - not the shiny (polished) finish!

Good luck! What a fun project!

I disagree with many of the others about stainless being hard to keep clean. Black would be just as hard. We have stainless and it is no worse to keep up than the beige appliances we use to have. And as one of the oter post noted, our shiny black smooth top range is hard to keep clean too.

As for wood floors, we have a big dog and two very active boys and we have hardwood in our kitchen. I will say that if you like your floors shiny and new looking, do not go with wood. We LOVE our wood floors because they are so warm looking and we do not mind the scratches. Gives the place a lived-in look.
