In all fairness, it is the only one of the choices I have been to. DH and I went on our adults only trip March 2001. First, the AKL is amazing to visit if you aren't staying there. We went early and had drinks in their bar area after walking around the lobby. The dinner buffet was so interesting. It tasted great, and although it was a little different, it wasn't so exotic that you wouldn't be able to find plenty to eat. We pigged out and enjoyed it so much, we already have ARs for our Sept trip on the free dining plan. After dinner we walked outside the back of the lobby to view the animals on the savannah. There were guides out there to talk to you about the animals, and a nice bonfire.

It will be DS's first trip in Sept, and we can't wait to take him to Boma. The food is delicious, and we think he'll get a big kick out of the resort. One day (sigh), we'll stay there when the budget permits a savannah view room. :earboy2:

Good luck with your choice!

Spoodles and Boma are amazing! You can't go wrong with either place! Mediterranean sit down or African buffet is the question? Both are top quality imho.

If you are looking for looking for a resort restaurant, Boma is great but you have to include 'Ohana right up there with it.

I agree 100%. Ohana is another excelent choice. Either way, you can't go wrong! :cool1:

Why did you leave off California Grill?
I think that beats any of the ones you listed.

First off the reason I didn't pick Ohana's is because I asked my mom & dad if they would take the kids for the night, so we could go out to eat at Chef de France. My mother picked Ohana's for their restaurant. I then realized after I had made all the reservations that I had forgotten and and picked a theme park restaurant when we were suppossed to have one day at the water park because we only have 10 days in the theme parks, so therefore we had to finish the day out with resort restaurants only, else we would have to pay for a one day park ticket to go out to eat.(we have a 10 day premium plus pass and are able to maximize 11 days at WDW and will stay at husbands parents for the rest of the stay in FL)

I thought of California Grill, but where we were splitting up I wanted to keep the credits even with our kids. I guess I could pay out of pocket for a couple meals. Is it worth it to go to California Grill and pay out of pocket? The last I had heard was everyone saying they loved the old California Grill, but weren't sure about the new one. What are the new reviews?

So would people say its worth paying out of pocket to go to California Grill rather then the other restaurants?

I voted for both Boma and Spoodles. While I love the food at Boma, the atmosphere is a little on the loud side. The theming is wonderful, the staff terrific and the food first rate. As for Spoodles, we eat there every visit. Never ordered an Entrée, just the entire (or most of) the Tapas (appetizer) menu; so we all eat tastes of little dishes of food. A fantastic way to dine, IMO.

I have yet to try the others on the list.

Enjoy!

I like Spoodles, but I here they just shortened the menu, so I can't choose that right now.

I've eaten my way around WDW several times and California Grill is still the best. (I'm not sure what "old" and "new" refers to? We were last there two years ago and it was great. Did I miss something????). :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We enjoy Spoodles! Always had good service and the food is great. I like that it's on the Boardwalk too.

I believe it was around April of this year, they renovated it. I heard they changed the menu and some people aren't sure they like the changes. They like the old menu.

Haven't been to California Grill since the changes. Regardless, its a differnt type of restaurant than a Boma. Boma is a buffet, while CG is an upscale sit-down restaurant, and therefore quite a bit more expensive.

To me, it just depends on what you are looking for. If you want a more sophisticated/romantic experience (though of course its still a family oriented restaurant), then go with CG. If you want a more casual experience, Boma.

Hope that helps...

Thanks, and, yet, when I read recent dining reports, folk mention the filet and the sushi, two of my favorites, so I think we're good.

Thank you! And, yet, when I read recent dining reviews folk still mention the filet and sushi, two of my favorites, so I don't think I'm in for a BIG surprise.

I have put my vote in for Boma! The food there in my opinion is not only unique and of course plentiful, but just down right fantastic! Adults and kids alike can enjoy the fare, with emphasis on the dessert selections complete with zebra domes of course! DH has to pry me away from the desserts as I with him at the carving stations! As buffets go, you can't get much better then Boma!
