Help me pick a resort, please!

We are adding 1 night/2 days at Universal for our trip in October. It will most likely be just me, DD10 and DS7 although my mom may join us for the night as well.

The night we stay, the parks close at 7 (I'm sure they'll be done before that) and I know the kids will want to swim as late as possible before I drag them to bed, so the pool is the most important factor for them.

Which to pick?

Which to pick?

My kids (6 and 11) prefer the pool at the Hard Rock. However, you can pool hop as well. The pool at RPR doesn't have a slide, it has a play area. The PBH is kinda out of the way compared with HRH and RPR, but their pool is very nice as well. For kids that age and because the HRH is easy walking distance from the parks, especially the Studios, I'd recommend staying there.

Here is a look at HRH. People will tell you it is the shallowest of the the three except by the slide. But it is actually our kids favorite! When we were there they also had Rockband...or Guitar Hero set up by the pool.
And last but not least RPR the ship you see in this picture is the water play area RIP mentioned above. My son loved it to. He was having so much fun he didn't come tell me that he ran into one of those poles, I had to ask him why there was a giant knot on his head!

I have stayed at all 3 resorts and the PBH has the bigger rooms and the best pool selection of all 3. The PBH has several pools and the beautiful Villa pool is open very late and an awesome way to wind down after a day at the parks.

It may be farther away from the parks, but by taking the boat, it makes for a beautiful ride to the parks. It's now the only place I will stay onsite.

Your kids though will probably love the HRH due to the pool design and lay out of the resort.

We have stayed RPR every year but one where we tried out HRH. Love everything about RPR, pool is a lot of fun for the kids too! We were always at the parks or there!

RPR everytime.

Pool is a lot of fun for everyone, not just kids. Really nice atmosphere. We were not pool people at all till we went there.

We wandered over to PBH once for the pool, but it was very dull (for us) and we went back to RPR.

We've stayed at both the RP and the PB, and I have to say that we enjoyed the PB much more.

The rooms are slightly bigger, and both the Villa and the Beach pools are very nice. I liked the quick service food at PB better too - the pizza at Sal's was fantastic and the small size was enough to feed 2 people.

My favourite of the 3 is PBH. My son's favourite is HRH. My daughter's favourite is RPR. Hope that helped!!!!!!

HRH has the novelty of listening to the music under the water, even though it's rather tinny it's a neat effect. The slide is fun there too. And they are very engaging with the kids, occasionally having pool games or sand building contests with little prizes like a free strawberry smoothy or something along those lines. Not sure if the other pools offer it, but HRH also does movie nights. Last night we were there they were playing Avatar.

Never tried PBH and the one time we were at RPR there was a major business convention going on and there was some event at the pool for them.

Thanks everyone. We ended up going with Royal Pacific. I debated on the other 2 just for the pool slide, but with our AAA discount it was $50 cheaper to stay at Royal Pacific.

Yep, I'm in the same boat... I would recommend HRH pool, but in September we're staying at RPR too.

But like someone else said if you really want to experience it, you can pool hop!

you will enjoy the pool at rph.
it's a decent size, plenty of lounge chairs, sand area for volleyball, food/beverage service brought to you..........



and if you want to try out a slide, just pool hop.

Always simple for us - we stay at whichever is cheaper, which has always been RPR. Usually $20-30 a night minimum - much rather spend that on other stuff.

All 3 hotels have pools and since you can pool hop, you can use any of the pools.

That is usually what we do as well unless the PBH is only a few dollars more. Then we stay there.
