Going to Disneyland in June with 2 kids (ages 1 and 2). Would love to stay at Grand Californian or elsewhere on property for ease of returning to room for naps, but they (curiously) don't seem to have any good setup for small children. Usually we get adjoining rooms so that the kids can nap/sleep undisturbed while my husband and I are awake in the other room. Disney does not seem to have any special deals for connecting rooms with kids. Had this same problem in Orlando and ended up staying off property. Do most families have the adults and kids stay in the same room? Do the adults all go to sleep at 8:00 too? It seems my choices are pay $900 per night (suites are even more expensive I have found), all stuff into one room (which, at GC anyway, according to reviews are quite small) or stay off property.

Any suggestions?

You could get connecting rooms at DLH (I've heard the kids will like it much more than GC, in general). That would be less expensive.

Thus far, we've gotten connecting rooms at Hojo's (about the same walking distance from room to front gate as DLH).

As far as distance goes (hehe), you won't get closer than GCH.

At DL it can actually be closer to stay off property if you do the right hotels. GCH is close but PP and DLH can be quite a walk through DTD.

I would look into suites that have 2 bedroom 2 bath setups. Here are some to check into. Desert Inn and Suites and the Carousel Inn have suites that would fit. I haven't stayed in the following but I'm pretty sure I've read that these have suites too. Best Western Park Place Inn and the HOJO. I know there are others on this board that can comment on those places.

We personally stay in the same room. We are wiped out when the kids go to sleep but we dont bring them back til after park closing.

Completely agree with AZ!! We stay till anywhere between 10-midnight though so we are all going to bed at the same time when we get back because we are all completely wiped out by that time. And yes we all stay in one room at PP, DLH and GC. It works for us.

But since it doesn't work for your needs the Desert Inn and Suites has a few different set-ups you can view online and pick which one is best for your family. They are as close if not closer so they are just as convenient for naps, etc.

Yup, we stay in the same room and go to sleep when they do. Sometimes we are able to sneak on a tv on low.

We have always stayed in the same room as our 3 kids..from the time they were tiny til now(15, 13, and 11) and my kids will fall asleep thru anything and sleep thru everything....we were lucky and never had a problem...they are great sleepers, it is me who needs dark and quiet :)

We stayed at Desert Inn last August in a Parlour Suite. We were 3 ladies who each needed their own bed. :) We were also looking to save some cash....but I loved the walk - I thought it was much shorter than the walk from DLH, and I have stayed there 2x in different towers.

Have fun!

The HoJo also has one King Suite and one Queen suite room (separate living rooms with sofa) if you don't want to go the connecting room way. Speak directly to the sales manager (his name is on their website) for the lowest price. He also would guarantee me connecting room due to the age om children if I wanted -- I know Disney can't guarantee that.

I ended up going with the Hyatt in Garden Grove on free Hyatt points. We have a King/Kidsuite with a separate kid bedroom with bunkbeds. It's not walking distance but they have free bus shuttle service.

We always stay in separate rooms -- I can't go to bed at 8:scared1:

We've always stayed in the same room. I have always been a heavy sleeper so when I was younger we would walk in to the room at night and I would just fall right to sleep (still do that now actually:rolleyes: ). So it didn't really matter if my parents were up or not.
