Help me, i just cannot get into Epcot!

We like Epcot but, and I know this doesn't sound very pro-disney, but sometimes I think there shouldn't be an admission to Epcot -- at least not the World Showcase side. We'd be more inclined to frequent the restaurants and shops nightly if it didn't cost us a park admission fee. I've never paid a cover charge to enter a restaurant or shop, and, again, I know this doesn't sound very pro-Disney, because it is neat to "visit" other countries, but we can nicely satisfy our WS visiting in a day. This year we got smarter, and are going during the May Flower Show.

OK you diehard Epcot lovers, flame away, because I've got another one -- I don't really like Spaceship Earth. I know it lost it's sponsorship, which explains the outdatedness of it, but it's the flagship "Big Ball" ride. OK, I've got my flame-proof suit on. :firefight

:scared: :crazy2: :faint: ....Oh my...I love Spaceship Earth!!!! Can't explain exactly why, but then again there are plenty of things about me that I can't readily explain, so I'll chalk it up to "just one of those things!"

I'm not into flaming anyone - we're all entitled to our opinions, and if everyone liked the same thing it would be boring. :wizard: But, I do love Epcot. Maybe I'm just such a Disney Nerd that anything "Disney" just sucks me in! Of course nothing can beat the feeling of entering the MK and taking in the atmosphere of walking down Main Street, but that's comparing apples and oranges anyway. I love The Land, the Fountains, Living Seas, and Imagination! I love walking around Future World and watching the monorail whiz by. And I also love the countries in World Showcase...probably the closest I'll ever get to seeing most of those nations for real (as someone who hates to fly.... :rolleyes1 ).

And besides, it was the last park that Walt himself helped to plan... :sad1:

I really like Epcot. It's one of my favorites. I don't think every park is for everyone. MGM being last on my list. I'm sure there's many that love MGM and that's a good thing. Each park holds a different appeal. I just find Epcot to be more interesting because of it's similarities with the old World's Fair.

I have learned alot from reading posts about why they haven't added more countries. I just enjoy strolling through the park-like settings and viewing the different countries. For me it's a relaxing place. :)

Another loves EPCOT not big on MGM. Love strolling around the countries. Love test track and Soarin, Living with the land. My kids can spend hours in innoventions and Crush Turtle talk. It's a good park to go if you want to sleep in a bit. Even when all the parks are really crowded you can still get to EPCOT around noon and get to do everything.

I really am not a fan of Epcot, either. While at WDW ,I feel like we have to visit it,but it's like "let's hurry up and tour this place,so we can say we did".We very much enjoyed the Princess Breakfast at Akerhaus with DD9 last August...then we walked around ,did a few rides and then were back on the monorail by 2pm.We rode Soaring,Mission Space and Test Track ...but didn't really think that they were something we had to come back to and ride a second time.We really enjoy MGM and MK ,much more!

I thought this was a more "adult who appreciates history/geography park" but dd now 9 has proven me wrong... I cant tell you how excited I was that the Living Seas was closed last time we visited - dd (and yes we go to the Chicago Aquarium 3 -5 times a year!) loves the fishies!! She spends TWO HOURS watching FISH!! Then each and every kid cot station, she TALKS with the CM's - she gosh dern wastes so much time.... hmmmm wait a minute...

NEVER MIND...

Aww... Maybe she wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up? :)

I use to feel the same way about EPCOT.

Now that the front Future Showcase has my 3 favorite DW rides, MTM-TT-Soarin and the Living Seas has 'talking to Crush" it is a really FUN time. And I always get a KICK out of Ellen in the Energy pavillion.

The World Showcase CANNOT be rushed. This part of the park must be gone through leisurely. I really think that is the key here. No BIG planning(except where you are going to have lunch/Dinner) or FastPass consumption involved here.

There is ALOT to see and do. Unfortunately for me I didnt find this out until a few years ago. One of my & the families fav spots is in the UK in the back park like setting where the British Invasion (Beatles tribute band) plays. Mexico has some really good jewlery buys! I purchased a name engraved sterling silver ring for my nephew last year, for 27.00! He just recently took it off to move to another finger. He is having a growth spurt! Love the Maelstrom! American Experience! Canada! Lunch at Alfredos!

Just show up some day, Pick either the left or right side and work your way around. REALLY take it slow and go through each pavillion.

Enjoy :thumbsup2

It's O.K., I  It's a Small World and I've read many posts trashing this classic ride.

And thought your line about Epcot being the last part Walt helped to plan to be very sweet and sentimental. Thank you. :wizard:

If Walt knew that they turned his Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow into a second theme park, he'd probably reassemble from his ashes, grab a flame thrower and personally demolish the place. EPCOT was his baby, and neither the original EPCOT Center ("The future as designed by republicans", as they called it) nor today's "re-imagineered" Epcot resemble his plans by any stretch of the imagination.

Despite being a big fan of Walt Disney, despite wondering what the real EPCOT would have been like, I love the theme park. It's my favorite at WDW (and possibly my favorite in the world). It's the primary reason that keeps all of us in my family coming back month after month, year after year.

I understand your situation. I have always had the same problem with AK. But now with the addition of EE, that looks like it will be changing. As far as EPCOT, that is without a doubt my favorite park. I love it there. All of the rides, shows and countries make it so much fun. There is nothing there that I don't really enjoy. The only problem is to break it down into words. For me, it is a "feeling". EPCOT gives me that magical feeling that Disney is so well known for. I don't know how else to put it.

i am with the person that said there should not be a charge to epcot, perhaps that is my issue, i think it is so laid back and relaxed and we do not get the same type of thrills at the other 3 parks, so i guess i fell like i would be paying for something that i am not benefiting from, at least for me.

Perhaps you should skip Epcot altogether and repeat the parks you really do enjoy? Visit Downtown Disney and enjoy a meal there? :)

You know what, I love EPCOT too, but I also understand your feelings it isn't for everyone.

Try and imagine this one though, we took my DSIL to Disney for her first time last year and she GASP, Didn't care for WDW very much. Can you imagine the sheer blasphemy of it all :crazy2: . My DH was so distraught that he vowed that we never take another person on vacation with us again.

:sad2: It's Blasphemy I tell you, BLASPHEMY

:worship: :earsboy:

My DD says you are missing the free coke at club cool. :rotfl2:
She also thinks you should go see the belly dancer in Morroco.

Soarin' is probably one of the most amazing attractions anywhere, you will love it, it's awesome!

I forgot about the fountain!!! We could sit for hours and watch the fountain in FW! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I totally agree about the fountain. I've made a deal with my family that if they want to do something different, just drop me off at the fountain and I'll be there when they come back! the music is incredible and at night the colors ar beautiful. Nothing more magical than this!
