Hi!
I am considering purchasing a DVC membership, but I have a couple of nagging questions I can't seem to find the answers to...
1) How much are annual maintenance fees? Beside my points, what are the costs?
2) What are the advantages, if any, of purchasing from DVC direct rather than a resell? Especially if I want Boardwalk?

Annual fees depend on the "home" resort. I don't know them all exactly, maybe someone else can post, but at BWV ours are $3-something per point annually.

If you want to buy at BWV you will have to go resale as DVC at Boardwalk is completely sold out. If you just mean you want the general Boardwalk area, then BCV is available from DVC directly.

Others can go into advantages and disadvantages more completely, but generally resaale is less expensive. Buying direct from DVC is less hassle as there is no negotiating and they will finance.

Annual dues for 2002

at each resort are as follows:

Old Key West - $3.22
Hilton Head - $3.49
Beach Club Villas - $3.77
Wilderness Lodge - $3.80
Boardwalk Villas - $3.92
Vero Beach - $4.17

You can't purchase BW from DVC - so you have to go resale.

afterward you join sometime you can do a add on at a sold out resort - but you can't buy new.

now if you could buy BWV from DVC - one advantage would be you could use it immediately - there is generally no waiting - for banking there can be - but for use it is as soon as you want.

I have seen references to a couple of those places on threads here before, like Shontells and The Timeshare Store, but I am wondering if anyone has used the other places and if they are reputable places to buy through??
