I need help!! My daughter is now interested in the games that you plug(I'm guessing) into the t.v. I've seen a deal on TRU, buy two get one free. This seems like a good deal. But, which one do I buy. Is any of the above better or worse than the other. Are any of these games better, less expensive? What is a good price for these game machines? I know I sound like a dork, but I'm clueless. TRU had a Gamecube bundle for $99. I think it came with some Pokeman game. Help me guys!! Christmas will be here soon enough! :teeth:

Since you didn't mention the ages of the kids, it's a little hard but, if you're thinking along the lines of Mario Bros. then, Nintendo is probably for you. I say go see what kind of games the various systems have and make your decision that way.

For me the only choice was PS2 because I specifically wanted the Final Fantasy line of games and Kingdom Hearts, which are Playstation. If you choose PS2, you can get an Eye Toy to go with it. My kids like playing these games. They are games where a camera puts you on the screen and you have to jump around to hit targets, dance, etc... There are also, pre-school games for the younger ones.

You'll probably find great sales on all the game systems you mentioned because new systems are soon to be released. ....I'm about to be phased out...maybe, it's time for me to look into a new system.

The plug and play ones, like Spongebob and Disney Princesses are popular right now, but they eat up the batteries. We got one for a gift, and in two weeks, went thru a package of batteries.

If your daughter is young, go with the gamecube. There are more games for kids under 10. If she's 10+, go with the PS2 or XBox. Our household has both the Xbox and PS2, but we use the Xbox more, as its easier to save games (it has its own hard drive) and the graphics are better IMHO.

I have a 15 yr old son and we have a PS2 and XBOX (he has).

The XBOX is fairly new, but I have noticed when we go to buy games, they are all mostly rated T or M. If I would have realized this earlier, I probably would have rethought the XBOX thing. He is old enough, but I don't like all that garbage.

PS2 has some cute/neat games - quite a variety. My son swapped his PS2 with a friend and borrowed his Game Cube for a month . My 3 kids were bored with it very shortly after we got it. The graphics weren't so good, I think they said.

I would go PS2 or my best suggestion would be to avoid those video games as long as you can. ;) My girls don't have any interest in them (thankfully), but my son just loves them and we have to limit his time or he would be playing 24/7.

ps2 is the only game platform holding it's value, for a reason... that's what we have, it's the best :cool1:

I agree with previous posters...it depends on your daughter's age.

I had purchased an Xbox after it had been out awhile for $199. I'm 33 and I'm an IT guy...so, I knew the Xbox had a faster processor, better graphics, and a built-in hard drive and network card. That's why I chose it over the PS2.

When my DS turned 5 (last Christmas), I decided to sell the XBox to purchase a Gamecube. I did this because the Xbox has virtually no games for 5 year olds. Everything seems to be Teen or Mature.

My 5 year old loved the Gamecube. I was able to get the bundle with Mario Double Dash racing and he loved it.

My opinion is....if you have a younger child, the Gamecube has many more titles suited to kids than the other two systems. The PS2 would be my second choice for a younger child. I would not buy an Xbox for a younger child.

If your daugther is a teenager....then, I would probably go with a PS2 or Xbox.

My son has both the XBOX and PS2. He rarely touches the PS2. The only thing about XBOX is there aren't as many games but, playing a bit myself, I would have to say the graphics are better on XBOX.

PS 2 is also a DVD player. Since my daughter always wanted one in her room that made my decision.

As others have stated it kind of depends on the age and what games you think your child will like. We have both the GameCube and PS2. It seems the XBox is more popular among the teens especially the boys. The younger kids tend to like the Gamecube, but as another poster mentioned the PS2 doubles as a dvd player. We tend to bring the PS2 in the camper during the summer. All of the Mario games and some other games are specific to Gamecube. All 3 systems have games that are just for their own systems. My girls are 10 and 13 and still enjoy the Gamecube the most.

If your daughter is just getting into plug and play games, I am going to assume she is younger and say go with the GameCube!

It definitely has the best selection for the younger crowd. We love our Cube! :) My 10 yr old ds would like an xbox and ps2 (he wants to own every video game platform available) but I strictly enforced the E rule for games, so he gets the most game options with the GameCube.

My boys, 6 and 10, have a PS2. I've been looking for games for them for Christmas, and honestly, I'm not impressed with the selection of "E" games. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong store (TRU), but there are tons of "T" and "M" games, and we aren't going in that direction for a long time.

I don't know how Gamecube and Xbox are as far as child-friendly games?

Good luck!

MarcyinPA - TRU does not always have a great selection of games. It might be helpful to you to check some websites - such as www.ebgames.com www.gamespot.com or www.ign.com - to find reviews and ratings so you'll know what games you want to look for.

Gamecube is VERY family friendly. I always hear it called "kid-friendly", which it is, but I am 31 and I love ours. Most of the games are "cuter" looking than those for the other consoles, and they are less violent for the most part. The Mario games, particularly the sports titles, are great. So is Animal Crossing. My son has his own Gamecube (because he always wanted to play while my husband or I was playing! ) and his Christmas list is full of Gamecube games.

X-Box is not very child-friendly. We only have one game for ours that my 9 year old is allowed to play. Most of the family-friendly titles for X-Box are also available for Gamecube or PS2, so we just get those instead. The graphics are great, but that doesn't help if there's not that much to play.

Most reviews I have read for games that are on all 3 consoles rank graphics and gameplay as: 1)XBox 2)Gamecube 3)PS2. More games take full advantage of the PS2's abilities than the Gamecube's, though.

My family has all three, and we by far spend the most time on the Gamecube. We also use the PS2 quite a bit - especially online against friends in other towns. And of course for Kingdom Hearts, which is why we bought the console! Katamari Damacy is also quite addictive.

We got the XBox for Knights of the Old Republic (and now KOTOR 2) and that is almost the only thing that it gets used for!

My kids are 4(DD) and 6(DS) and we have a PS2 we love it my son could play all day.

The reason we got PS2 is you can play both PS2 and regular playstation games on it. They have a ton of the regular playstation games at our local ebgames store. We even have race around magic kingdom!!!! Plus these games are under $10 which helps with our budget as we can't always get him the latest and greastest. Just a few months ago they even had buy 2 get one free on the old system games which is just fine for us they are still fun. And we got 3 games he likes to play for under $10.
