gah! i can't make a decision!

we are doing one night at a wdw resort before our DCL cruise. we arrive Sept 5. we plan on going to magic kingdom that day(have non expiring tickets from two yrs ago).

So, where to stay?
originally, we looked at AKL, because i love it and the pool area is great. BUT it is far from MK, and i am worried about wasting a lot of time travelling.

Then, we looked at WL. i like that it has boat access to MK, but is ++ money. we would be renting points for either of these.

Now, i am also looking at Bay Lake towers for proximity. however, it seems more like an average hotel and not as disney-like.

i am also open to any other suggestions!!

Travellers are myself, my mom, my 6 yr old daughter and 4 mos old son.

I've stayed at POFQ, AKL, and CS (which is near AKL). I loved all three. I think I'd have to say as far as room decor goes, CS was my favorite. We also love the Pepper Market there. AKL is very nice as well, great theme and animal viewing is great, and Boma (the buffet restuarant) is also a favorite.

I haven't been to POFQ since the 90's so I don't remember much besides liking it. It also gets good reviews on this board.

Sorry, can't be of any help w/ resorts in MK area.

You mentioned renting points....did you mean you were deciding between AKV and VWL and BLT? Points can't be used at AKL and WL. If you're renting points, there shouldn't be a significant difference in price between AKV and VWL. I know, kinda picky, but it's early and I confuse easily at this hour. :rotfl:

Of the three, you're most likely to find availability at AKV at this late date. You're about 6-7 weeks out, and many DVC members make their reservations 7-11 months out, so it's probably going to be a matter of what's left at this point.

Since you are so close to your trip you will probably have a hard time renting points as others have said. Although for one day maybe not.

I'd try and stay at the CR. It's my least fave of the 3 but for 1 day and MK you can't beat the transportation and proximity to the park. If you can't get points for BLT then I'd probably splurge and pay for a room at one of the monorail resorts. Order of pref for me would be Poly, GF, CR. They have the biggest standard rooms and will fit your family comfortably for 1 night

I'm also not sure you will easily find points to rent for 1 night...Usually points are rented in a bundle. But you never know! In that case, I think WLV could be good since the boat ride to the MK is really nice. Any of the DVC areas of the resorts around the monorail would be perfect.
I'm not sure I would shell out $400 out of pocket for a night at one of the monorail resorts (always about the money!), but POR is lovely and closest to MK in terms of the Moderates.
PS - I really love AKL though so if you stay there it wouldn't be the end of the world ;)
