We have never been to any of the Orlando dinner shows and would like to try one on our next trip. We will be dining with a 5 year old boy. I have ruled out the Luau at the Poly and Hoop de doo Review........................so would like to hear from anyone who has tried any of the others......Medieval Times, Arabian Knights, Pirates, Dixie Stempede etc!

What was your experience? Which has the best food, entertainment and are they value for money?!! Please help!

Hi Debs, we chose Medieval Times last year and it was fantastic! My youngest was 9 at the time but thoroughly enjoyed himself. It involves a LOT of audience participation and the more you get involved the better the night. Food was good, drink was plenty and the kids loved the knights and damsels theme. Well worth a visit!

Dear Sue,
What did you have to eat?! How long was the show? Was there plenty of action for a boy?!!Was it good value for money?

By the way, have a great time at La Manga, we were there in May for the first time and loved it!

i don't think you have to book anything in advance...
everything we've tried has had plenty of space available..
even onsite disney....we haven't had any problems getting any of the times we wanted, even though i waited until we got here..

Debs, the food was very good considering the numbers they're catering for. Garlic bread, soup followed by chicken, ribs and potatoes and a pastry after; made all the better as you eat it all with your hands (great for the kids!!). There's loads of action as the knights joust on horseback in the arena. Each seating area supports a different knight so you can imagine how involved people get!! It was great value, lasting all evening and I would definitely go again.

As for La Manga, really don't know what to expect as we've never been before! We're overlooking the marina and staying in an apartment owned by friends.

Hi,

We went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ, with DD who was 3 at the time.

We throughly enjoyed it!

Found the photos that they took were very expensive, but we still bought them for the memories.

Food was a buffet style, with hot dog, corn, chicken, ribs, a large cake was for afters, and of course BEER!, and soft drinks.

Hi :wave2:
We did the Mickey BBQ about 8 years ago and it was great!!! :cool1

We did the Arabian nights show 4 years ago and to be honest the food was seconded rate and the show wasn't even that.
the best bit was when they let all of the horses loss in the arena at the end

This year we are trying Dixie stampede as it has got excellent reviews and the food looks like the best of any of the off site dinner shows :cool1:
have a look on this link
www.dixiestampede.com

If I where you i'd buy the tickets through an on line agent not direct as you will save at least $5 a head

I hope you ruled out the Hoop Dee Doo because you've been there too many times. It's the best! :rotfl2:

Hi Debs

We went to the Dixie Stampede in May and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was plenty of audience participation - my partner and I were picked for part of the show and got a medal each :)

We bought our tickets online and got a deal with free drinks, popcorn & peanuts and souvenir photo's and flag. :flower:

What ever you do don't go to Arabian Nights or Pirates - rubbish food, totally out to extract money off you at every turn. Mediocre shows and rude arrogant staff. :scared1:
Best avoided - have been ripped off by nicer people. :sad2:

we loved the pirates show been 3 times and this year the food was actually good. :earsboy:
did arabian nights and thought that was absolute cra* (worse thing we have ever done in florida)
booked tickets for dixie stampede next year.
has anybody done fiascos? what's it like?

we have done Dixie Stampede with a 4 year old and he loved it!
He got chosen to chase chickens across the arena and won..

Food was great..
We have also done the back yard BBQ (before DS was born) - we didnt really enjoy it much..
