Ok, so we just got our marriage license back from the Brevard Clerk of Court, signed by them, so I presume that's our valid license now? :cool1:

There were no nice instructions like when we first got the license for notarising, just got it back signed, with what appears to be a receipt, and an envelope - presumably this is for Rev Miller to return to them after the ceremony?

So, I just wanted to check what we actually need with us on the day - does Simon just need to take the license down to the ceremony site with him, and hand it to Rev Miller for him to do all the rest? After our witnesses have signed will he arrange for it to go back to the Court? What do they then need to do, I don't see anything else they need to fill in? Does the license then get sent back to us at home - it doesn't have our full address on it? What if we want any additional copies?

Does Simon need to take anything else to the ceremony with him, passports, birth certificates or anything, or are we all good to go now? We're from the UK so I don't know if that affects anything?

Do we need to arrange for an apostille for the license to be recognised in the UK? It seems like we have to use a deed poll to change my name, as I'm going to double barrell, so perhaps the license itself isn't actually that important in this case.

Phew, sorry about all the questions, just realising how close we're getting now and wanting to make sure we're all sorted! :scared:

Hi hun,

If you have had your signed license back from the court then that's it! Your Rev won't need to see any proof of ID or anything like that - the notarising is enough.

The envelope is for him to return the signed license back to the courts, or you can do it yourselves once everything is done and dusted. It would normally be taken to the courthouse but as it is in Brevard they provide the envelope.

Make sure you include your address with it to ensure you get the license back. They will have all that anyway from when they returned it to you originally but you should include it.

If you want additional copies you need to state that and also include the fee for extra copies.

I found out about all that lot from them when we were looking into it but we have decided to go to the courthouse instead.

Do you mind me asking how much it cost to have notarised, and when you started the process? It is still in the back of our minds to do.

Thanks Alex,

Any idea how much additional copies are?

We started the whole process at around 3 months to be safe, they didn't send it back straight away from Brevard though (the application), so I rang to check it was received, they confirmed it was and they were starting all of October's soon (they do them in batches) but then she noticed we were in the UK so said they'd send it back now to give us more time. Our notary charged £60 and once we'd sent the notarised copy back to Brevard, the signed license came back from them in just over 2 weeks.

Thanks for the info. I think we will still get it when we are there.

We're making a bit of a day of it. We're going to get the license with Mom and Dad in the morning, then off for the suit fitting and lunch, and then into MK :goodvibes
