Help! I'm a DLRP Menu addict!!

ok so i saw a pick of like a toasted sandwich on the annettes thread. does anyone know if they still do this *** thats all my mom wants to eat

I'm not sure if they do.... Even when they did I think it was on the kids menu. I certainly can't remember seeing them on the menu in April....

I'm a secret DLRP menu addict too - I love looking at the photos and menus. Were only going for 3 nights/4 days in Dec and I don't have time to go to all the places we want!!

All you foody people I would value your advice, were doing hald board plus and this is what I have come up with so far....

Sunday - Dinner at the steakhouse (were getting the eurostar and would only just make the brunch but I want to hit the parks!) using the half board menu which, I like the look of

Monday or Tuesday - Dinner at Annettes either the half board menu or we will pick a main and probably share a dessert (all depends how hungry we are!). The other day we may go to Paris for the evening/eat counter service (croque monsiour!) or eat somewhere else

Wednesday - Was thinking about a buffet lunch to fill us up as were travelling in the evening and wont have another meal really that day - I was thinking with Plaza Gardens, Rendez Vous la Stars or the lucky nugget. Heading towards the lucky nuggets as its with characters (never done a character meal before!) and its better value with the vouchers!

I also like the sounds of Cafe Mickeys, but is it really really loud??

I also wanted to go to Walts (love the look of the interior and the menu), but I think we will save that for another time!

Oh and when I went in 2006 (wont mention previous trips as they were ages ago and I cant really remember where we ate), we went too:

Rainforest Cafe- thought this was really nice, we had really nice seats next to a big fish tank, it was expensive but we thought the food was really nice (plus we had a 20% voucher!). Only thing I thought was strange was that the toilets were being repaired and you had to go to Cafe Mickeys to use the loo!

King Ludwigs - We didnt think much of this, the interior was lovely, but the food was dry and overcooked. We had a set menu and I had a steak which was really tough.

The Grange at Billy Bobs - On the advice of the Brits Guide we went here, the food was tex mex and really yummy but there wasnt much of an atmosphere (very quiet), but I remember it being quite good value for money at DLRP.

We also ate at an italian at Val'D Europe which was really nice and really good value for money (much cheaper than DLRP prices).

Howdy!

Cafe Mickey is lovely bit I've heard it can get quite loud in the evenings....Lunch time is quieter there, and the portions are very generous...

I would say that I've read a few reviews that say that a lot of these buffets that you've suggested for the Wednesday have gone a bit downhill.... Out of all of them The Lucky Nugget does seem to get the better feedback though.

Personally, if I was you, I would either go to Walts at the lunchtime (If it was open) or maybe see about going to Cafe Mickey with your half board vouchers as I personally think these would be better value options as the portions (Certainly in Cafe Mickey) are very very big and prove good value for money. If you have your heart set on the buffet though, I would go for the Lucky Nugget....

Hmmm good point, I'm scared of the characters as it just me and boyfriend....I know I'm silly when we went to WDW in Jan we had reservations for Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary resort (really popular character restaurant) and we cancelled because I got too nervous to go without kids!!!

Chef Mickeys does look really yummy, are there any piccies of these yummy sounding pizzas anywhere?

Just noticed this post Juliette!!

I think a lot of places do offer pastas as a veggie option, but there are quite a few that have other veggie options too.... The Rainforest Cafe seems to do a couple of veggie options (I believe they do a Veggie burger and a few pastas), the Agrabah Cafe is meant to be very good for veggies, but I would recommend you ring in advance about this one as it only seems to be open certain days when it isn't high season. Annettes Diner does a big Veggie salad that somewhere near us was eating when we there a while ago, and it looked really nice.... The buffet places do have veggie options, but I would advise you asking what the choice is for veggies before you go in as some people have been less than satisfied with what is there for them when they go in. Cafe Mickey did a couple of veggie things if I remember rightly (I'm sure they would probably do a veggie pizza, etc) Another option would be for you to ask if you could have a double portion of a veggie starter served as a main course??? I know some veggies who post on these boards have often posted some good reviews of the Silver Spur Steakhouse.... So theres a few options for you to explore there!!

Thanks Bob, trouble is I'm with my family of carnivores and my DH has already spied the pictures of steaks posted in the reviews of The Steakhouse! I'm quite happy to sit and soak up all the atmosphere - besides, if I have a salad, I'll have to over-indulge in dessert...:rolleyes1

Well, we're just two adults and we loved Cafe Mickey!! Don't feel silly, its just great fun!!

I haven't seen any pics of the adults pizzas, but I did see one being brought to a nearby table when we were there and it looked really yummy.... :goodvibes

Oh yes, I forgot about the Steakhouse in the Village.... Last time I was at DLRP and saw the menu there was a really nice veggie option, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was now!!

And as you say, its always an excuse to over-indulge in the desserts!! :goodvibes

Actually, I would like to know about people's favourite desserts. I've got a sweet tooth to say the least!

I havent got a sweet tooth but have had some lovely desserts in DLP (well in France as well)

The creme brulee in Blue Lagoon is delicious

I also love the Cafe Gourmand option which they serve in several restaurants - a coffee with a few taster desserts. I nearly always have this in Annettes and posted a pic of it recently. Also had it in Walts which had delicious things but seemed to vary as someone on the next table had it as well and had slightly different things. Also had this in Cafe Mickey

I love floating islands - meringue in a very thin custard (creme anglaise) which is much nicer then the description. I had this at Inventions.

Of course the chocolate fountain at Inventions

The crepes at Lucky Nuggett with maple syrup

The cakes at Agrabah

One of the beauties of the buffet restarants is they always seem to have a good selection of desserts

I never actually got a dessert at DLRP!! I intend to rectify that this time!! :goodvibes

The Milkshakes at Annettes are very very good though! And the fudge from the Boardwalk Candy Palace is to die for! :goodvibes

These sound lovely. I love the sound of the cafe gourmand as I'm one of those terrible people who wants to try everyone else's dessert. I'm happy to share mine but have found that others aren't always so keen... lol I will definitely try the milkshakes at Annette's too.

I'm the same! I love the idea of a Cafe Gourmand as its little desserts and lovely coffee.... Best things in life! :goodvibes

Yep, I'm with you on that. I might see if I can trade my half board vouchers for just cakes and coffees. :lmao:

That's going on my list of things to remember for next time!!!

Considering I havent really got a sweet tooth I seem to have remembered and got excited about a lot of desserts. :rotfl:

On another thread earlier I also seemed to be able to write a lot about the bars at DLP and Im not a big drinker either :rotfl:

Desserts... Something that I try to have with every meal, regardless of how full I am :goodvibes

I loved the pineapple ravioli at California Grill - 1 piece is basically 2 very thin slices of pineapple, with some mango mousse placed between them. You get 4, plus a small pot of basic and pineapple sorbet (nicer than it sounds!).

I also really enjoyed the apple pie and crumble at cafe mickey at walts respectively.

The steakhouse sunday brunch had some nice desserts, including a big cake, a lemon tart (very nice, but also quite sharp) and a chocolate tart (also nice).

Inventions had a huge selection although I will admit I don't remember much about the puddings they did have, so I guess nothing really stood out there.

I had a gorgeous sundae in Ludwig's with the strawberry ben & jerry's and small (warm) scotch pancake type pieces in it.

I've also had some good cheesecakes in various places.

Can you tell I think pudding's the best part of the meal? :rotfl:
