Help: Ideas for a Disney Scavenger Hunt?

Hello everyone!

I'm surprising my kids with a trip to Disney next month, and I'd like them to find out they're going by doing a scavenger hunt (probably the day before we go). The problem is, I don't have a creative bone in my body and I can't come up with different 'steps' or 'clues' to have them do the hunt.

They're 4 and 7, both pretty smart. They'll have to do it together since my 4 yo can't read yet. I was thinking maybe 5 different clues so it's not too hard. The only thing I could come up with is sending them around the house with clues, and having them find (5) different envelopes with (1) word in each to build a sentence that says someting like "We are going to Disney". What do you think? Any other ideas? Or do you have some ideas for clues?

Do they know that they will be going on a vacaton somewhere or nor at all?

If they do not have any idea you could put a carry on in the room that they would be in together first thing in the morning (kitchen). In the carry on have a note asking "What goes in me?"

You could tell them that you have a couple of things hidding in the house and just have them go looking for a Minie & Mickey.

Have a Minie & Mickey someplace else in the house each with a note asking "Do we get to go with you?" & "Where are we going?" (they could be together or in different places.)

See what answers they might come out with or how long it takes them to scream those happy sreams of WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!!!!

What ever you figure out I'm sure it will lots of fun. Enjoy.

There is a book available called Passporters Treasure Hunt(?). It's available at almost any book store. I checked it out on Amazon. It's about $12 and says it has over 100 scavenger hunts for all ages.

Oooh, I love this stuff!! We do rainy day treasure hunts the same way. Here is a set of clues for your idea. -


envelope #1 - "WE" on the outside - Hand it to them and say it's a new game, that they should open the envelope and follow the hints. The paper inside says "Here is clue to a special surprise. Look for the next one where you see your eyes."

so #2 - "ARE" - is taped to the bathroom mirror. - "The clues will tell you where we will go. If you miss the next one, it might squish your toe."

#3 - "GOING" - is folded in one of their shoes. - "You may run into a duck or a mouse. Find the next clue where you enter the house."

#4 - "TO" is taped to the front door. - "There will be magic and laughter and fun. Find the last clue where the laundry is done."

#5 - "DISNEY" is in the dryer, maybe along with a stuffed Mickey or something for them?
