Help! I need an appetizer that does not contain...

Artichoke dip

1 cup mayo
1 cup parmasian cheese
1 cup shreaded mozerella
1 12 to 15 oz can quartered artichokes, drained and diced
1 4oz can diced chilies

Combine all ingrediants and bake in a pie dish for 30 minutes at 350. Serve with crackers. Note: Do not use low fat cheese or mayo, it doesn't turn out right. It's a high fat, high cal dish, just accept it! :rotfl:

Saltines and water?

I used to make a carrot tofu dip.. which was really delicious

My mom used to make wheatgerm granola (totally tasteless)

Wow that's not very nice :( I try to accomodate all no matter what foods they can or cannot eat. What if they were allergies? You could wind up making someone really ill.

May not be very nice, but putting that level of restriction and expectation is rude in it's own right. I have to side with Cindy. To add to that, given the laundry list of "bad" items, the host should simply have thanked Cindy for asking but that it wasn't necessary.

For the record, I did try to accommodate everyone when having a party or bringing something to a party, but no matter how hard I tried, someone wasn't happy. So rather than give myself a headache and risk being "offensive" to the one person that might be upset that I brought something with meat/fish/nuts/alcohol/low-fat/no-carb/blahbiddy blah blah, I now bring two bottles of wine and that's it. If they don't drink, they can give them away as gifts if they like.

I am aware that there are folks with intensely life threatening allergies. We have them in my own immediate family. I am also aware of those that must be careful of certain ingredients because it could make them ill or be physically debilitating. I'm one of them. I also know that some folks are alcoholics. Yup, we got 'em! Nevertheless, I can't imagine anyone in our family that would give such a list to someone who was kind enough to ask, "Can I bring something?" :confused3

See that? Now you lost me. Curry in deviled eggs. What's wrong with you woman?

Instead of paprika, a bit of red curry .. it's really good.

Paprika always tasted bland and metallic to me.

I never even thought of paprika as having a taste. It's just pretty. I like mustard in my devil eggs.

Hungarian paprika does have a taste. Normal paprika doesn't, that is more like tumeric (an Indian spice similar to paprika ).

NOTHING wrong with deviled eggs. I LOVE them and gobble them up. I always sprinkle paprika on them, but have never tasted it...dunno what kind of paprika I get - the kind you buy in the little jars in the baking aisle. Just not really an appetizer, I don't think. I thought it was a joke, given how little I can use, lol. :)

I know I could make whatever I want and say, "The hell with 'em" if I wanted to do that. I could bring cheese and crackers and say, "there aren't enough of you for me to bother with," too. I've told people to go to hell before and have no problem doing so when that is what I choose to do. Really.

I just happen to like these folks - they're my friends - and I'd like to make something everyone can enjoy. I choose to do it. But it's hard, which is why I took my search to the DIS. I knew the DISers wouldn't disappoint! And they didn't!

So, thank you everyone for all of your help. :)

I say you should put on your professional wrestling gear with matching mask and start shoving deviled eggs made of appricots, shrimp and bacon and doused in brandy in all their mouths. And you have to cackle, Mwahahahaaaaa.

LOL!!!!

You forgot asian and cut up meatballs!

One of our favorite appetizers that gets completely consumed in minutes is the little smokies wrapped in bacon and covered with brown sugar.

They are simple to make and delicious.

Wrap little smokies in bacon, securing with a tooth pick. Place in a casserole dish.

Cover with brown sugar.

Bake at 350 for an hour.

Let cool slightly.

Place on serving tray.

Another vote for this one. I had to make an extra tray for my Christmas dinner....they were eaten in less than 10 minutes!!!:thumbsup2

A throw away foil pan works great... less clean up.

I do little smokies in bbq sauce and simmer it in my mini crock pot.
