Help! I need a late night hobby....

You could start researching and compiling your geneaology. That's something I've been getting into lately -- it's quiet and can be done on the computer.

I was going to suggest video games. I don't onsider myself a gamer by any means, but I love Animal Crossing for the Wii! It is addicting. These days, there is something for everyone when it comes to games!

Nope, no caffeine for me. I am high strung enough. I don't drink pop or coffee. I have been like this since I was a child. My parents were always concerned I would fall asleep in school but I never did.

I have actually improved since turning 40 a few years ago. I now have a few days a month where I am in bed and asleep between 1 & 1:30 am. I do take a 20 minute nap probably four days a week on average. I am usually not dragging during the day. I just operate with the belief that everyone else is backwards with the whole sleeping during the night thing. :rotfl:

We have a Wii, DS and Gameboy and I have never played with any of them (I've done the Wii workout type games before). I know we have Animal Crossing and some Mario games. I will have to check them out. Never thought about them before since I am not a gamer but maybe they will be fun.

I can sympathize! I'm the same way and have been all my life. I remember watching David Letterman when I was in grade school - that was when he was on after Johnny Carson!

I read a lot, work on the computer (planned most of our WDW trip between midnight and 3am) and lately I've been watching old tv shows and old movies on our ROKU box (w/ Netflix). I cut and organize coupons and make lists; I've done things like cataloged our DVDs, CDs and our books using an Access database that I wrote myself. I don't get it put away until the next day but I often fold a few loads of laundry at night too.

I like the jigsaw puzzle idea, I may try that.

Good luck, OP!

I tried playing 2 different Mario games and a Star Wars game on the Wii. I discovered that I am a wimp. The way the game moved around made me feel sick!

I also tried out 2 brain builder type games. Those were fun but it bugged me that after I would do a short game, I would have to wait for all this nonsense stuff (you did well, try harder next time, blah, blah, blah). Just shut up and let me play the next game!

Animal Crossing is for the DS and it is probably buried in my son's room so I will have to try that tomorrow night.

I think I have found a few things that might interest me. I really like the puzzle idea and vacation planning. Thanks again for all the ideas.

I don't know how Animal Crossing is for the DS, but, like I said, I was so addicted to the Wii version for months! I f you have it hooked up to the internet, you can travel to other friend's towns. There is a thread here on the Dis where people exchange codes and visit each other. I am sure you could find someone (mayeb on another continent!) up when you are!

Yes indeed! Like OP, I am a night owl and have been my whole life. It is nothing for me to be up at 3 am (I have a dear cuz, that gets up really early, like 3-4 am, and we will IM each other, I'm going to sleep, but she's getting up - but I digress)

I was always interested in genealogy, but really got back into it a few years back. Ancestry.com is absolutely habit forming, though I have lately had to put my subscription on hold. I have also become the family keeper of all things paper and photos....lots to do in the middle of the night.

You guys have given me some great ideas. Thanks!

Cryptograms seem cool. I also love collecting quotes. I just had my hormones checked and everything is fine so no drugs for me. :upsidedow

I just saw a commercial for a DS game called Professor Layton. I don't play video games but that one seemed intriguing.

All great ideas. It is only 11PM so I have many more hours to search for some keepers.

I'm not sure which game you're looking at but Professor Layton and the Curious Village (for the DS) is a great puzzle game! There's a 2nd one coming out (probably what you saw on TV) that I hope to get soon.
