HELP!!!! I may be gluten intolerant - testing starts Monday

If you've already made ADRs, be sure to call back the reservation line and have them add that you're gluten-free to your reservation. Have your confirmation numbers handy when you call.

This way, they will be prepared for you. Many years ago, a chef at Artist Point told me that Special Diets alerts them a week or two in advance of your reservation and it allows them to be sure to have enough GF or milk-free or peanut-free (whatever "-free" applies to you!) items available. In fact, once my food-allergic DD was served a piece of cake for dessert free of the foods she's allergic to. The chef explained he had several diners in that day with the same allergy and made a special dessert to accommodate all of them.

Special Diets no longer notified chefs ahead of time. Half the chefs were only told that morning when they were looking over the list of ADRs flagged with allergies and that's only the ones who are proactive enough to do this. Chefs who don't take this initiative are not actively notified in any way. Things have changed a LOT in the Special Diets over the past few years. Special Diets really doesn't do much to facilitate notification of chefs any longer, even for those of us who they state still should fill out their forms ahead of time (people with celiac with no other allergies do not need to fill out the forms; we've got laundry lists among 3 of the 4 of us so we're still asked to do so though frankly I really can't figure out why).

We only have 1 ADR at Garden Grove at the Swan, I have already called them, spoken with the chef so no worries there. We have QSDP - that was why I was so concerned at first, however after TONS of research, the Dis boards and having an AWESOME travel agent I feel very comfortable that I will eat well while on vacation. I just found out today that Babycakes takes Disney gift cards & they are on the dining plan - I can tell you where my snack credits will be spent.... :rotfl:

Garden grove is a buffet, but chef will fix whatever I want if I am not happy with choices. My Travel Agent called and spoke to special diets (didn't get far) but she also spoke to a chef at POP & she has assured me that I will eat well.

I am also finding, slowly, great treats and snacky things that I like, so I will be taking some things with me to take in snacks daily just in case we are slowed down getting food.

The only regret I have is that I didn't talk to the Dr. more about how bad I was feeling, cause I feel SOOOOOO much better already.

Yep, I always bring snacks with me because I always have a hard time finding them around the parks. I know they're THERE, but I'd much rather have them on ME, than have to go scout them out. :goodvibes

So I am heading to Le Cellier for lunch on Saturday. When I was there the last time the chef said that they could make me some Cheddar Cheese Soup for me that was Gluten Free. :cool1: I will try it out and let you all know how it is.
