HELP! how do i make ressies if i want to do this?

my use year is sept. and i just received my 2003 points and i have until the end of feb.2004 to bank them. my question is i need my 2003 points plus 2004 points to book my ressies in jan. 2004 for my trip in dec. 2004. how do i go aout making resies with banked points or with 2003 points that have to be used by sept. 2004 ? help

Walk through it and it'll be okay --

You want to make a reservation for a December 2004 trip. You will call in January 2004 to make the reservation. Your 2003 points are good until August 2004. If you aren't planning on taking any trips before August 2004, you can go ahead and bank these points at any time between now and when you make your reservation (just be sure not to miss your 100% banking deadline). You will then use all these points for the reservation plus any additional Sept. 2004 necessary to make the reservation.

If your circumstances change and you want to take a trip prior to Sept. 2004, you can borrow any unused points from your Sept. 2004 Use Year to take the trip. However, any points you banked are a permanent move and must be used by August 2005.

Pam has you covered. The easiest thing to do is when you call to make your reservation (before Feb) tell them you want to bank your points and use those first for reservation. You can do it all in the same call. They will help you through it. Just make sure you bank them before Feb.

Great Thanks ! i wasnt sure once i banked those 2003points, that i could still make a ressies on them in jan. 2004. i thought i had to wait until sept.2004 when i get the points back to make ressies for dec. 2004.
i had 2002 points banked and for 2003sept. i wanted to make ressies in june 2003 for aug. 2003 , and was tol by ms tat i didnt get my 2002 points back yet not until sept. 2003 and that i would have to borrow sept. 2003 points to make ressies. now i have my 2002 and 2003 points , for april 2004 trip, i already made ressies using all my 2002 points for that trip. that is why i am ? what ms said for my last trip.

September Use Year 2002 points banked into 2003. Can be used for travel between September 2003 and August 2004. You wanted to make a reservation for August 2003. You could not use the banked points for this reservation. You could borrow from your September 2003 points for a trip in August 2003. You should have been able to book this trip in June 2003. Booking dates and using points are seperate.

This raises a question. Have you already used some of your September 2003 points? Also, do you have these banked September points that must be used by August 2004? (Just saw that you have used these for an April trip.) You might want to have MS tell you what points you have available and when they'll expire just to be sure you are clear on what's happening.

i needed 97 points for my aug. 2003 trip, ms said my 2002 banked points could not be used until sept. 2003, ms said i had to borrow my 2003 points to make the ressies. now i used my 2002 points for my april 2004 ressies. and the rest of my 2003 points & 2004 points i want to use for a dec. 2004 ressies.
i will call ms tomorrowand ask how i should make the ressies, if i need to bank the rest of the 2003 in feb. or if i bank can i still use these points for a dec. 2004 trip.

It's a little easier to understand if you make yourself a little chart for your use year. A September use year month would look like this:

2004.....Sep 1, 2004 through Aug 31, 2005
2005.....Sep 1, 2005 through Aug 31, 2006
2006.... Sep 1, 2006 through Aug 31, 2007
2007.....Sep 1, 2007 through Aug 31, 2008

and so on.

A trip in December 2004 requires UY 2004 points. You can get points into 2004's year three ways: (1) bank 2003 points, (2) regular 2004 points, (3) borrowed 2005 points.

You banked your 2002 points into 2003 which meant they were only available for a vacation in the 2003 use year (Sep 1, 2003 through Aug 31, 2004)

Your Aug 2003 trip was in your 2002 use year. If you had banked your 2002 points into 2003, then you had no 2002 points for that trip. That's why you had to borrow some of your regular 2003 points into 2002.

An April 2004 trip would be in your 2003 use year.

A December 2004 trip would be in your 2004 use year.

Using the chart above, see when your <u>Vacation Dates</u> will be. That tells you what use year the points will have to come from. You can be sure you have enough points in that year then by banking or borrowing as appropriate. Keep in mind, once banked or borrowed, those points cannot be returned to their original use year.

You make your <i>RESERVATION</i> at 11-months (or 7-month) regardless of your use year. You don't have to wait until points are actually in your account yet. It only matters that points WILL be in your account at the time the vacation is actually taken. Example: You can make a reservation right now--November 2003--(11-months) for an October 2004 vacation, using your regular 2004 UY points that you will receive Sep 1, 2004. An Oct 2004 vacation is in your 2004 UY and can use regular 2004 points, banked 2003 points, or borrowed 2005 points.

Remember, use year is totally different than Calendar year. Example: July, 2005 is in your 2004 UY just like Oct 2004 is in your 2004 UY. A July 2005 vacation requires 2004 year points. Just like the other example, they could be regular 2004 points, banked 2003 points, or borrowed 2005 points.
