We are going to visit HHI for the first time next month and are looking for the "must do's" in Hilton Head. We have two teens and a toddler, so what types of activities at the resort will accommodate us, and what do we need to see outside of the resort?

We will be bringing our bikes with us...anything else you would recommend bringing from home?

All suggestions are very much appreciated.

Thanks,

There is another great thread some where on this board that Laurabearz started with some great ideas for HHI. We leave in 7 days!

We have gone through the teen years at the Disney resort...it's definitely "do-able"!

My daughter didn't like the activities that much, so she usually just goes to the pool or beach or bike riding (after getting up late, of course!). And we always have some mom & daughter shopping time (while DH and DS are golfing). She is almost 20 now and still enjoys the relaxing time we have there.

DS was a little easier -- he almost always goes on one of the "Teen Night Out" programs -- they give the kids pizza and take them either miniature golfing or to a movie. Sometimes out to Starbucks or for ice cream afterwards. Other nights the teens usually hang around the pool table till they close Big Murggies Den at 10:00. He's 17 now, so I think our teen organized activities with him are ended. During the day, he would go to the pool or beach with us, golf, go crabbing, or go bike riding. He has never complained of being bored at HH -- even when it rained all day long!

I can't give any help on the toddler, though -- I'm a bit out of practice with that!

DS would sometimes bring his Playstation 2 and hook it up to the TV in the second bedroom. He could either play it or he could use it to play DVDs.

You'll have a wonderful time!! :sunny:

You don't say how old your toddler is, but we have a DD4 and were just at HHI last week. They have various activities throughout the week, including a campfire sing-along with stories and sumores and a magic show that also has some singing in it. Most kids over 2 would likely enjoy it, but any younger than that, and it might be lost on them. There is the main pool with a water slide, and next to it a baby pool with spitting frogs. The beach is nearby, and you can either walk, bike, ride the free shuttle, or drive there.

We enjoyed HHI, but it's much more of your typical vacation resort minus much of the Disney hoopla. . .though there is no mistaking that it's a Disney resort. The suites have DVD players in them, so movies for tykes is also an option. Finally, nearly every restaurant on HHI--and there are many--are kid friendly, even the nicer ones. Hope this helps, and if I can answer a specific question, don't hesitate to ask. :earsboy:

ds will be 2 in a couple weeks. He's very active (much more than either DD was) and loves people. Hopefully this will work for us....

I think you'll be fine with your soon-to-be DS2. As for the teens, they can bike, beach, swim, hit the arcade/game rooms, kayak (cost is $30 for a 2-hr outing but it's worth it; plus, I think there are kayak rentals nearby for excursions outside of Disney's resort), fish, and crab to name just a few. As I said, HHI doesn't have the theme park excitement as you get at WDW, but it has many pluses in its own right. Enjoy!
