What an awlful decision!:jester:

We are making a girls' trip - DD 12, friends 13, 13, 14, and me - 5 of us. Two of the girls have never experienced the magic of WDW so I feel responsible to make sure it is truly magic. We are driving from SC for a long weekend in August. We'll arrive Thursday night, stay offsite, then spend Friday and Saturday night onsite. We'll leave Sunday night and stopover someplace on the way home. With this short a period I know we will not be spending time relaxing at the resort. I can get the CR at $170/night or Poly for $238. The $138 difference will go a long way if you consider that we will not be at the resort for long.

But the CR leaves me feeling neutral and the Poly has always been on the list of things-to-do. Which to choose. CR fans - tell me why you think it's special.

I should also mention that we stayed at BC over Spring Break so I do not want to go to an EPCOT resort. Plus, we obviously need a room for 5.

We love the CR. First stayed there when my dd's were 12 and 13 and they adored it. The shopping is great, arcade is huge, boat rentals are excellent and you can even walk to the MK! I'd save the Poly for a longer trip when you'll have more time to enjoy it.

With four teenage girls, the only thing you'll be feeling is tired! Go with with the CR, for sure. Like you said, you won't be in the room that much. I think if you went with the Poly you'd be disappointed that you wouldn't have enough time to truly experience the resort. The Poly should be on your "must do" list for a future, longer trip.

You should know, this response is coming from a huge Poly fan!

only because you won't be staying at the resort much- those girls will want to be in the parks- the extra money you save can be used for a great dinner at 'Ohanas or in Epcot....or even eating at the castle is a TREAT for anyone. Save the money and blow it elsewhere- have a great trip!!!

The girls will love the CR! They will love the cafe downstairs and the game room. You will love the easy walk to the Magic Kingdom. With that extra money go to Chef Mickeys!!! Excellent time!!:Pinkbounc

Assuming all of you are staying in the same room, you will want the largest possible room! The Polynesian has large rooms, but the Contemporary's are noticeably larger, averaging 436 sq ft, about the same size as the Grand Floridian.

Go for the Contemporary. I bet the girls will love it, the price is better and the rooms are bigger. With such a short trip you will be hitting the parks more than exploring the resort. Save the Poly for another time.

Dear Sunshine2U,

I've stayed in the Contemporary Resort many times, and it's wonderful

If you stay in the tower, ask for a room as high up as possible for a view to knock your socks off. If you stay in the Garden Wings, it's only a quick walk to the Magic Kingdom.

I always like the Bay Lake view best. It's so peaceful and beautiful.

One of my favorite memories of the Contemporary is waking up to see the sunrise over Bay Lake. The cast members were always busy at work down below, using their tractors to "comb" the sand into neat designs (i.e. Mickey Mouse and friends).

If you opt for the castle view, you'll have your own private balcony for a showing of the fireworks. Those sunsets are something to behold, too.

Don't forget to watch the Electrical Water Pageant, as it floats by your room. The music and lights always bring a smile to my face.

Also, you may want to visit the top of the hotel to watch the fireworks--incredible!

I always feel like I am in this amazing city of the future when I stay at the Contemporary Resort, mostly because of the monorail entering the lobby.

The marina is awesome, too. It's the BEST place to rent watermouse boats. I love those! Zipping around Bay Lake and over to the Seven Seas Lagoon is so much fun.

Best wishes on your trip!

Stay at the CR and live it up! Have a fun time.
