My 7-year-old loves the Littlest Pet Shop animals.

I second the LPS toys or Polly Pockets...those are two things you know that you can always win with...at least with my DD who is almost 5. Both of those toys are the CRAZE at school!

Ditto to Polly Pockets and Littlest Pet Shop-these were huge at the 5-7 age range! The best part is they both have sets in just about any price range-small $3 sets or huge $50 items and everything in between!

I have a 5 year old daughter. She loves Dora still, she's getting the Dora cash register, fairy wishes Dora.
She also likes Polly Pocket
Littlest pet shop
Tea sets
Disney Princesses
She also loves her eisel, she got that 2 christmas' ago, and still loves it, I'ts got a chalkboard side and the other she puts up paper and paints.

Thank you so much....
Are there any specific items from polly pocket or littlest pet shop that the kids want this year?

Thanks

My Little Ponies are also a big hit.

When my girls were five they liked just about any doll/animal figure that they could use for pretend play. You could also consider playsets like kitchen toys, kits for playing school or "office" or dress-up costumes. I bet the animal hospital kits would work.

Building toys like Legos or Lincoln Logs might be nice.

DD4 soon to by 5 (April) is in LOVE with Strawberry Shortcake! Ask mom/dad if there is a certain character she enjoys as it is widespread from Dora, Backyardigans, Spongebob, Little Ponies, Polly pockets, Princesses and more if you want to do a character gift.

Other great ideas are

*craft items - DD is starting to be interested in the bead kits - make bracelets, painting, coloring, etc.

* Big girl dress up stuff - lip gloss, light fingernail polish, fun hair accessories. Not to mention DD still really enjoys the "fake" stuff too - boa's, heels, purses, etc.

*some type of radio, tape player, walkman - a lot of character ones out there

*If she has a handheld game - Gameboy, Leapster, etc pick her out a game - many are about $20

* Boardgames - Chutes & Ladders, Candyland, Perfection, Connect Four, Checkers, Memory

* My kids get SOOOOO much that mom/dad really appreciate gift cards to the kiddos favorite spots - Chuck E Cheese, McDonalds, etc. or even the toy store so she could pick out some item that wasn't left under the tree. I know people don't like to give GC but sometimes it is a better idea than a toy that you don't know if she would or wouldn't like.

I got my 5 y.o. niece a baby Ariel doll (the flower scent one, the one that wriggles its tail was a little unpredictable in the store) and the Ariel purse with accessories. I spent under $30. She loved it :)

How about the cranium giggle gear mask for girls? It seems to be easier to find then the boys mask(alteast here in south texas). Its $20 and makes different masks of fairie, butterflies and something else I cant remember. It also has a voice changer. I know my 5 year old son would love the boy one if I ever find it!

These are really cute, great if she likes to dress up. I bought the boy one from etoys, have you checked cranium.com? They have free shipping, too, for orders over $25.

Webkinz!!! You will be the coolest Auntie EVER!!

Cranium.com is sold out of the masks along with toysrus, target, amazon and walmart. I am going on a hunt tomorrow in town and if I find nothing I am going to order it from barnes and noble or drugstore.com. I just hate to pay shipping!

I ordered some Webkinz from Bealls online a week or so ago. That has been an absolute hit with my DD! I had to peek, and gave her just one of them. For her age, the online part does require adult help to win cash & buy things, but she loves taking care of "her" pet.

She's also getting some Littlest Pet Shop things, and just this week in our KB Toy Store in the mall, I found the Holiday Cinderella Barbie-like dolls marked 1/2 price, making them $10, along with a Dora floating island which was 25% off (it's for bath time fun).

Good luck!

My DD5 also loves Littlest Pet Shop and Polly Pocket. The price ranges from $4-$50 for both, so it covers all gift budgets.

Going a slightly different route, if she has a favorite restaurant, see if you can get a giftcard. My mom bought my DD a giftcard to SouperSalad when she was 5YO for Valentines Day & she was thrilled!! It made her feel very grown up.
Art supplies are also great. There are some great kits out there for about $10-$15.

I have a 4 1/2 year old that loves My Little Pony and Biggest Littlest Pets. She's getting the BLP Shop from us and the My Little Pony Castle from Santa. I think these things are talked about the most at her school. There's also Tinkerbell and Ariel now are big hits.

I think the list is endless still for 5 year olds. My DD goes from one thing to another so quickly, she left Dora in the dust last year. :rotfl: I figure by the time she's 5 she might be over the Ponies by then. Kids...what can you do.

I agree with Gift Certificates too, my DD does feel grown up when she receives them.
