So we had fleas so bad. I would wear white socks and just watch my feet to see them jump on my socks so I could grab them and flush right away. We tried the things available at the store. I have a friend that is a vet and she told me I had to use Advantage. It worked but only temporarily keeping them at bay. I was fogging my carpets every two weeks or spraying with Raid. Vacuuming every day. Me and my youngest were the only ones that were getting bit by the fleas beside the cat. My son when he was a baby would get so many bites and scratch them he got tons of little scars. I thought I was going crazy. Actually I'm getting itchy just thinking about it!
A friend had done some research on Diatomaceous earth. I was very skeptical. But she said she just sat and petted her cat and kept sprinkling a little bit into his fur and then rubbing it in. I think she realized I was skeptical and she brought me over a small jar of it. So I said what the heck! I pick up a pinch of it and rub it into his fur. Trying to get down to the skin. I just keep doing it all over his body. That was at least 6 months ago. I have not seen another flea on him since. I sprinkled it into my carpet and left it overnight and vacuumed in the morning. I have not been bitten by another flea. It is incredible to me. Periodically I do it to him again. I also sprinkled it on his food that first time. It is effective against internal worms and parasites as well. I haven't purchased it personally but its on Amazon. Food grade diatomaceous earth- http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...vptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_5c77pbmmct_b
It's not toxic. I was worried about all the flea spray I was spraying in my house with my young children. But I couldn't stand the fleas!
Good luck!!
