Help! first time going to disney

Ok so me and my husband have never been to disney. We are taking our daughter who will be 5 and our son who will be 1 1/2. Also my sister who is 18. We are staying at the AKL in the savannah room. I got the meal plan and 5 days of park and water park tickets. We are going to be there from 8-10-08 untill 8-16-08. I need to know if the AKL is good for the money? Are the rooms nice? Will it be good for the kids? Me and my daughter are alos very picky eaters. How is the food there? Thanks alot

AKL is very nice, as are the rooms. The rooms are a little small, as all Disney Resorts are. Whether it is good value for the money is debatable, as are most Disney hotels.
Savannah view will be awesome and I always think that at AKL, part of what you pay for is the view and balcony.

Food there is excellent. Boma and the upscale restaurant (Giko? Jiko?) are both highly rated among dis reviewers. Remember, though that when on the dining plan, you have dozens of restaurants that you can book through Disney World. Enjoy your trip!

Also -- then time you are going has traditionally been a time when Disney has offered Free Dining. Just watch these boards, and if they offer it, you can call and compare package rates both ways. To get free dining, you have to pay rack rate for the room, so you have to compare. They also will often include waterparks too!

Thanks alot! I will def. be looking for that! Also my mom got a paper for 30% off Im not sure if it was in my name or hers (I have had things sent there b4) but we lost it.. do you have to have that when calling or can they pull it up with your name?

Loved AKL. We wish we would have spent one full day at the Lodge so much to do. Kids loved it.

AKL is a great place stay. Make sure you do as much activities as you can there. Your kids will really enjoy themselves. The food is great I myself loved there pizza in the food court. There breakfeast are great they have mickey waffels and everything. Make sure you go swiming in the mourning one day because the ducks like to swim there to. The hotel has so much to offer their guest. Just find out what time these events occur. There is a bulletin board with everything you need to know. So all you have to do is have Fun.

Go to allearsnet.com and check out the menus there. I too am a picky eater and always pick where we eat. There is great food at WDW. Be sure to try the Dole whip float at Aloha Isle in Adventureland at MK.

Hi Steph,

Pin codes are attached to names. Just call Disney and ask if there is a pin attached to your name, or your husband's name or your mother's name. If there's one there, they will apply it for you.

AKL is a great place. Sitting on the balcony watching the animals is wonderful. There are also many kids activities there. And I think the store is the best on property.
