Ok - I have spent a ton of time on the CATSA (Can. Air Transport Security Assoc.) website, and I still can't quite figure out a few things. Hoping some of you can help me?

How do duty free purchases of alcohol work? I read that there are restrictions on ALL liquids (except baby milk and juice etc...) of 100mls or less. Anything larger needs to be placed in checked baggage. But if you are purchasing from a duty free AFTER passing tru security, you no longer have access to your checked baggage to put anything in there!!

Can anyone clarify this for me? Hubby is looking forward to buying some stuff we can't get up here, and we aren't sure we can get it back!

Thanks

You can purchase bottles larger than 100ml PAST Security and take them on a plane.

This is a situation you watch out for.

Lets say your coming back from WDW to Calgary but have to connect in Toronto.

You purchase duty free(post security) in MCO, and they give it to as you board the plane. You land in Toronto, get you luggage and clear customs. BEFORE you give your luggage back to the airline, you must pack your duty free in your suitcase which will be re-checked. I suggest placing the item in a zip lock bag that's been wrapped in towels in the middle of the bag. That way if it breaks, it will not leak as much, and hopefully not on mine!

If you have no connections you don't have to worry!

Just remember if you still have to go through security, pack it in your checked luggage!!!!

I wouldn't depend on Duty Free. If you want someting special buy it in Orlando and pack it.

We bought duty free alcohol in Vegas after we had checked in at the airline counter. They just brought it to the plane when we boarded. It was a non-stop flight though so we didn't have any problems. I suspect that if you had a connection in another US city, you could get your duty free from that airport so that it could be brought to the plane for you.
