HELP! FD dilemna T-14hrs and counting!!! WWYD

OK, we are a family of 5 currently booked at CR for 5 nights in Sept. After "mentioning" it last night to MIL she is "interested" in going but because of recent major surgery there is no way she can commit for sure right now or even for a few months to see how she does. My dilema is do I book a mod with 2 rooms and or leave my current ressie at CR now and try changing our ressie later on to 2 rooms somewhere. POR would be my last choice out of preference and not interested in cabins. Otherwise which mod doesn't really matter if I wait and try to change it later I could be happy at CBR, CSR or POFQ. Either way I run the risk of having to modify a ressie for 5. If I leave CR now I am afraid it will be gone if she doesn't go and I have to go back because we are a family of 5 we can't just stay anywhere. If I leave it alone and try to downgrade to 2 mods later on what will availability be? I am leaning toward the latter...... Just looking for some input?

My thought is to leave the CR ressie as is and book a second ressie that will accomodate MIL. Either one can be cancelled and the deposit refunded prior to 45 days before arrival.

I would keep your CR ressie. I hear it's better at Disney to have to add a person, rather than remove one.

Yes, it's always dangerous mentioning Disney vacations to family members. I'll pretend to be kidding on that one.
