Okay so I have tickets for my kids and myself (bought no expirations last trip). I want to book during FD and minimize my cost. My boyfriend doesn't have tickets. I know we are supposed to buy 1 day base tickets for each person to get free dining but what if we buy him one four day with all options? That's about the same price as 1 days for each of us. I wonder if Disney will go for this? I know I'm stretching but what do you think are my chances ?

I don't think that will work. To get free dining you must purchase a package and all people in the room have to be on the same package.

I know you can upgrade his ticket once your there at guest services. You can't let him use everyones 1 day though cause your names are on the cards and I don't think they will buy it unless you all have boy names :lmao:

I agree. One possible option would be to have the one-day base tickets for 3 of your party taken off the KTTW card (after check-in) and put onto paper tickets. Then they could all be used by boyfriend for admission into the parks. Of course this will only work for you if you're not planning to park hop!

Can't you just buy 1 day tickets for each in your party and then have them removed from the KTTW cards? Then you could use those tickets towards upgrading his to however many days you need? Cheshire Figment is the expert on this. Maybe send him a PM. I bet he would know.

tricky_tink, we must have been posting at the same time. what do you mean the tickets have names on them? do you mean the KTTW cards? if you convert the park admission to paper tickets there is no identification on them (unless it is in secret Disney code). my family of 4 was at WDW for FD last year with a split stay so we ended up with an extra set of 1-day admissions that we never used and converted to paper tickets before we left. my DH and I are planning to return this fall and use those tix ourselves... do you think there's a problem with that plan? :confused3

I meant the KTTW card have your name on them. I assumed op also had kids tickets that he would not be able to use no matter what form they were in. But yes if she had them converted to paper tickets that would work but I don't know if they will do that right after check in? I assumed it was only before you left. I dunno?? good question.:confused3

I just booked the 4/3 deal and was told to go to the concierge desk after checking in. We have AP's so I bought a 1 day base ticket for each of us. After the tickets are removed from the KTTW card I can then use them to renew our AP's. The only thing I'm not sure if Disney allows or not would be for OP to use the childs tickets along with the adult 1 day ticket to upgrade towards the adult ticket she needs.

No they would not. Besides you can only turn in one ticket for each ticket you need to upgrade. You cannot turn in four tickets and ask for the value of all four to be applied to the ticket he needs. You can buy four one day tickets, then have him go to any guest services and upgrade his one day ticket to whatever he needs, then save your's and the kids tickets for a future trip. As an AP holder, I've had to do this several times. In fact, because I go several times a year using different promotions to get the DDP, I have several of those one day tickets. All they'll ever let me use to upgrade a ticket (either my AP or my travel partners MYW ticket) is one ticket for each of us. In fact I have one day tickets coming with my May buy four/get three nights free deal, another one day ticket coming for my free dining Sept ressie, and yet another one day ticket coming with my Dec 40% off PIN code ressie. I know that when it comes time to renew my AP I'll only be allowed to use one of those tickets. If my husband decides to go with me in Sept, we'll have to get him a one day ticket also, then when we get down there turn in his ticket for a nine day parkhopper, paying the difference. He will not be allowed to add any of my one day tickets to his. However, because those one day tickets are worth about $70.00 a piece and the longer you stay the cheaper the tickets, it would not pay to just let him use all of my one day tickets individually, even though we could probably get by with it. To upgrade to the ticket he would need would be around $250.00, but if he used nine individual one day tickets for those days, those tickets would be worth about $630.00. Sorry, I don't think so. Those tickets are worth saving and upgrading individually, even if it takes me several years to do it. They are not going to expire.

Also if he wants an AP you would have to go to a guest services either at DTD or a park to do that. The resort concierge can upgrade those one day tickets to MYW tickets, but only a guest services at DTD or a park can give you an AP.

Okay you guys maybe you can help me this. I have 5 day hoppers for 3 of us so when I booked FD I just got 1 day base tickets for us. I was planning on buying 1 more 5 day hopper before we left. After reading this thread I was wondering if I could take all the 1 day base tickets together that would make a 4 day ticket, add a day and add hopper on. This would save me the money for a new ticket.

no you cannot take 4-one day tickets and make a 4 day ticket. You could make them paper 1 day base myw tickets and use one everyday but you would have to put the hopper option on each one. Your best bet would be to just wait till you get there and upgrade one of your tickets to a 5 day hopper ticket and save the other 1 day tickets for a later trip. If your getting a 5 day hopper ticket at a discount cheaper then the upgrade cost then just change all your tickets over to 1 day myw and save them for your next trip. confused yet?

thanks, I figurede it could hurt to ask. I wanted 6 day tickets anyhow so I'll just go to the Disney store and get the 5 day hopper before we leave. I'm still saving not having to buy tickets for the rest of us.

Again, it would be more economical to upgrade those five day tickets to 6 day tickets, than to use those one day tickets on their own for the 6th day. To add another day to a five day ticket is probably less than five bucks, but those one day tickets are worth over $70.00 a piece. Again the longer you stay the cheaper the ticket. It's the first few days that they get you on the price, after the fifth day it only costs like $3.00 bucks or so for each additional day. You can either pay an extra $3.00 or so to upgrade the five day tickets to a six day or you can use a one day ticket that on it's own is worth over $70.00. For me, I'd pay the $3.00 to upgrade the five day to a six day and save the $70.00 one day ticket for another trip, where I could apply that $70.00 to a multiday ticket.

Thanks so much,I think I will do that then. I would probably be cheaper to upgrade the one day base to the day hopper that I need. I am going to have to do the math.

.

These tickets I have are from 2003 would it still be that cheap to upgrade to 6 day tickets? They are also the tickets that never expire(bought when there no expiration option on tickets). Could I upgrade them to 10 day and they would still never expire?

Umm, now that I don't know. Go over to the Disabilities board and at the top you will see some stickies. One of the guys that posts alot over there is Cheshire Figment. He works at WDW and is the expert on tickets and the best way to upgrade them to get the most for your money. You might want to PM him. Sorry, but I'm just not sure about tickets that old. What he normally says though is to use them one time, then go to guest services to upgrade them. If you upgrade them before using them you will only get credit for what you paid for them, but if you use them once, and then upgrade them, then WDW will credit you for what the current gate price for those tickets would be, not what you paid for them years ago. With them being from 2003 though, I'm not sure how that would work. Your best bet would be to PM Cheshire Figment and ask him.

Tiffany Z - we have always been allowed to have anyone use the one day tickets you have to buy with the package. Once a ticket is used it is non transferrable, but a one day ticket hasn't been used. He should be able to use all of your tickets. Call guest services and ask.

We were not able to get our ticket removed from our KTTW card because somehow is messes up your dining credits. This was in December 2008 and we asked at our resort (Pop) and at guest services at the MK.
