Help! Dolphin all Booked up.

Has anyone every been on the waiting list for a room at the Dolphin? If so, did a room ever become available?

Hi try going through Dreams Unlimited on these boards, they were able to get me a room there in june when every place I checked said it it was "sold out". Hope this helps!!!!...goof

I'm on the waiting list at the Dolphin for 29-30 March

I echo this - Dreams Unlimited has at times been uncanny about getting dates that others said were all sold out.

When we called for the dolphin in aug. they said there was a convention and it was booked solid. They offered us the swan, of course its a little more, but we took it. Liked it so much we are going back in april. Good luck and keep trying. Did you call direct, use the web site etc.

Sorry, that was LAST aug. and this is our trip for THIS april. Another poster linked a website listing national conventions but it was not listed. I worried that there would be too many people in the pool, too long lines for busses etc. Well it was great. Didnt even know they were around. I guess they were busy with meetings all day. Only saw a few come out by the pool at lunch time. My dh did see what kind of convention it was just incase he could network if he needed to for any business applications etc. I cant remember what it was. But now I see that the other poster said about a convention this april, I see why we couldnt get the govt. rate the whole time. But its only one day without it so its o..k. Good luck.

I was just curious if you have a calendar of events or planned activities and could I inquire if they are using the pool area for any special events. Could you share what the convention is about. Just curious. My dh always looks for innovative things to use and apply at his job. Works for govt.

It's SANS 2004 Information Security Mega Conference. There are a lot of classes being offered April 1-9 but my husband and I will only be there the 1st-7th. I couldn't believe it when he came home and told me about it. The grandparents are coming to stay with the kids! My husband is only taking 4 of the classes so we will have 2 days and evenings to do whatever without kids <G> And I of course will find plenty to keep me busy during the days he's in class LOL! I'm looking forward to the break. It's been a long time.

Princessmommy, I wll be at the Dolphin in april as well. Do you know if the pools will be closed for any functions between April 1-9.

I called last week trying to get Dolphin ressies June 24-28, and they said then too they were booked up for conference(s?). They suggested the Swan but by then cost was already creeping up higher than I wanted to pay—even with AAA—so I went back to my original plan, to stay at POFQ. (Those ressies had already been made—I just got fickle one day and changed my mind to the Dolphin. Fortunately I did not cancel the other first! ) Now I'm back to being very excited about the POFQ.

GAWD I hope not LOL since I plan on being out there at times when my husband is at the conference. Do they close the pools sometimes for functions when there is a conference? We have stayed at the Dolphin twice. Once last summer and again over Christmas. The pools were never crowded! There were more people by the pool over Christmas than the summer time but not crowded. The whole area is so big that I doubt it can get too busy..but I don't know for sure.

Also, for those looking for rooms around that time period (April 1-7) I did notice on the Swan/Dolphin website that rooms were booked up. However, on Dreams Unlimited they are still showing rooms available but the rate jumped up! So hurry if you are going to book a room. There is a discount for those attending the conference. There is a SANS website you go to to book the room but I don't have it handy. I'm sure those attending the conference has that information anyways.

Had the same situation Presidents' week 2003. Dreams Unlimited was able to get a room for the "teacher discount" for us and we got an upgrade to a balcony room at check in, even though there was a HUGE chicken convention there at the time.

The convention attendees did not impact the pools or transportation at all that I could tell. We have stayed at the Dolphin 3 other times and loved it every time!
