HELP!!! Do I or don't I ask? SHE SAID YES!!!!

I would do it when it feels right. My DF was going to ask me on Christmas, but couldn't wait!! We were engaged on Dec 22!!! So, if it feels right to ask, go ahead!

I personally would rather have the ring now instead of later... But that's just me!!! :goodvibes

And as mentioned, just do it from the heart. I remember everything my DF said. It wasn't elaborate or anything. He told me afterwards that he didn't have a clue what he would say; he just stated talking and hoped that it made sense:rotfl:

Good luck and Congratulations!!!!

I didn't read everyone elses posts but I just thought i'd tell you my experience...
I got engaged October 2007. He had the ring for just a few weeks when he did propose. He had planned to wait till May 2008 to ask me because we had a trip planned to WDW. Well...we went out to dinner at my grams church. Still to this day for some unknown reason she was introducing him to her church friends as my fiance. She had no idea he even had the ring at that time. When we got home we were just hanging out playing PS3 together and he popped the question. He said it "felt right". So...i think go with your gut and do it when you think is right. Wheather is her birthday, disney trip or a random day that is just perfect. Whatever happens good luck and let us know how it goes!

I read in your first post that you thnk she would like to be asked in both ways 1 - on her birthday and 2. in WDW .... why dont you give her the best of both worlds.

Propose to her on her birthday ..... at the same time tell her you want a wedding at Disney World

Doing it when it feels right...that is some great advice. I guess sometimes I get caught up in trying to make it so special, that I figure in order for it to be a bit more special it must be on a special day. Doing it on a random day would probably have just as much meaning as doing it on a special day. Thanks!!

Thanks for the well wishes! I will definitely keep the thread as updated as I can!!!

We have been discussing the pre-preliminary "details" of our wedding and we have already decided that we want a Disney wedding. We're both very excited and wish we could get married now, but it's not feasible just yet. I guess it gives us something in the longer term to look forward too! We have our annual trip in May to the world, but a bit longer term would be a wedding!!!

One guy to another...you'll know. It's as easy...and complicated...as that.

I'd been thinking about buying Katy a ring for a while....when I finally pulled the trigger, it was one of the more nerve-wracking things I'd ever done. Complete state of disbelief walking out of the store.

As far as the proposal, I only had a vague outline of when/how I was going to do it....during our WDW trip. Finally, I settled on dinner at CRT. Originally I was going to wait for dessert, but about half way through the entree I couldn't wait anymore, pulled the ring out of my cargo pocket, and popped the question. All the nervousness, fear, and anticipation bled off instantly and I (we, for that matter) was on Cloud 9.

I'd recommend against using the ring/proposal as a substitute for a birthday present. Let the highly memorable day of the proposal stand on its own.

Good luck bro!

Thanks man. It's good to hear a point of view from the male side. I wasn't going to use it as a substitute for a present on her birthday, just sort of an extra perk if you want to put it that way. Perhaps late at night after all the celebration of her birthday is over, maybe I can do it then... Thanks for the well wishes and response!

As another hopeless romantic, I think your Wishes idea is the best one so far. Definitely do it that way! Does she have a favorite character? Maybe you could get a little plush of her favorite character and make it hold the ring box. You could present it to her when you drop to one knee. Like I said, I'm a hopeless romantic! ;)

Is her birthday party before or after the wedding? If it is after, you could arrange with her family to do it then, complete with your little Wishes video and music!

From my perspective, "a romantic moment" could happen in the drive thru at McDonald's if the people involved make it romantic!!;)

Your statement above (bolding mine) just needs another point...ANY random day will become special when you propose and will have all the meaning you want it to!

Good luck!!

Thanks! I think I'm liking that idea more and more everyday. Her favorite character is Cinderella, but she likes Tinkerbell and Minnie Mouse too. Minnie Mouse would probably be the easiest character to find in plush, but now all the local Disney stores have closed, so perhaps this won't be that easy.

Her birthday is on the 18th, which is ONE day BEFORE the wedding. Like I and most posters in this thread have said, it's probably not a good idea to do it before or during the wedding.

I'm hoping it will be special and I'm hoping I don't screw it up!!! LOL! Thanks for wishing me luck...I'll need it (not for her to say yes, but for me to make it through it)!

You should check my other post about the Disney commercial..might inspire you :)

For all those that have been following this, I think I am going to ask her AFTER the wedding (when we get back to the house). The wedding is this Saturday, so it will be late late Saturday or very early Sunday morning. I think I am going to put a DVD of Wishes on and towards the finale, pop the question, with some sort of speech from the heart (I'm not good at stuff like that though, so this oughta be something that should be posted on world's most idiotic proposals)! Anyway, all those girls out there, how would you feel about that? When we were in WDW she mentioned how much she loved Wishes and she wanted to go and see it every night, so while we can't physically be there, we can be there from TV land. What would your reactions be? She really was hoping for it this past May when we were in WDW, so is this the next best thing? Besides waiting unti next May?

yes definitely - i would love it if it were me - GOOD LUCK, shes a very lucky girl that you've put all this effort into just asking her

i think it's perfect, that will make Wishes that much more special when you get there next year!!

I think that would be absolutely lovely! If you can't make it to disney until next year, that is definitely the next best thing... and since she loves wishes so much, this is going to be so magical and romantic!!! Its going to be perfect! Good luck!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Good Luck, it sounds like a perfect plan! I think she will be so happy no matter where and when you do it. Don't forget to tell us all about it after!! :)

You sound like a wonderful young man and whenever you decide to propose, I wish you and your fortunate fiancee all the best! (Please give us all the details! :) ):)

P.S. My DD's DBF is going to propose to her at DL in December with both families present. I think she suspects it's going to happen there, but my, oh my, it's been nearly impossible not to have it accidentally slip in conversation! ;)

Your plan is absolutely perfect! You are the sweetest guy in the entire world and if I was not old enough to be your grandmother I would make a play for your myself!:rotfl2: Good luck and keep us updated please - enquiring minds and all :thumbsup2
