I've never seen so many mentions of macadamia nuts in foods as I have on this forum. In my entire life - and with the exception of cookies - I don't think I've ever noticed macadamia nuts as an ingredient in random foods. And I'm *very* allergic to macadamia nuts, so it's definitely something I'd notice.

Do I need to say something while at WDW? Do I need to mention it at restaurants? And, if so, to whom? I don't want to make a huge deal out of it because it's never been a problem, but it almost sounds like WDW has *a lot* of entrees that include macadamia nuts.

What do you think?

Edited to add the restaurants in question:

Garden Grill
Biergarten
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Crystal Palace
Cape May
'Ohana
Tutto Italia
Teppan Edo
50s Prime Time
Sci-Fi Dine-In

I would mention it just in case. You wouldn't want to have an allergic reaction on your vacation.

You should call and have this allergy noted on ALL your reservations. The chefs need to know. Also, once you get there, mention it again. Don't be afraid to ask about each and every thing you order - the server can ask the chef whether it's safe for you. Disney has stellar reputation in this department.
I'm allergic to a couple of nuts (cashews most severely) so I understand your concerns. Luckily I've never had a life-threatening reaction but you never know how your body will react the next time.

I think any time you have a serious allergy, you should tell the restaurant. It's better safe than sorry. WDW is very good at handling food allergies. At a TS restaurant, the chef will come out to speak with you. Chances are most of the restaurants won't be using macadamia nuts, but there's a chance some will.

I guess the reason why I've hesitated is because it's never really been much of a problem. That is to say that I've never really been anywhere that macadamia nuts was used (seemingly) prolifically in foods. I know kids who have VERY SERIOUS reactions to nuts and I don't want them to think I'm *that* allergic. I'm allergic enough I'd end up needing to go to a doctor and maybe getting a steroid and/or benadryl shot, but probably wouldn't have to be rushed there by ambulance. :)

I'm allergic to cashews, and it's really more of a "sensitivity," because I don't get any reaction if my food was prepared on a surface that also touched cashews, etc. I always mention my allergy, and then they usually tell me that the bread was made in the same place tree nuts are processed, etc., and I tell them that is fine. Ohana could possibly have "hidden" macadamia nuts, so I would defintely tell your waiter there.

I would definatly have it noted, better to be safe then sorry. Especially at Ohana.
