Help - disney web page swallowed my money!

I never even thought of booking with the deposit only! How much would the deposit be for a £3000 holiday this November?

Is it hotel only or flight inclusive?

Hotel or flight exclusive is £50 per person

Flight inclusive is £150 per person

There is no way I would be booking and paying in full this far out - I like my money to earn interest for me not Disney :rotfl:

Like as already been said you can book ADRs etc just not until 180 days before the date you want to book :thumbsup2

Thanks guys. I called to rebook yesterday and just paid the deposit.

Was a bit of a nightmare and I'm considering writing a letter. They couldn't fly me from Scotland at all so I've had to buy separate flights and hope BA are nice enough to link the prn numbers so that we can check our luggage through and it cost more over the phone than it did online (despite the shorter flight?) and we also won't get our cashback.

Also we can't make any ADRs or book for firework shows until Monday or Tuesday because we don't have the long reference number only the short booking number so we are cutting it fine for booking thanksgiving dinner!

Would a letter do anything or do you think it would be ignored? I really just want an explanation as to why disney don't fly from Scotland and won't let me book anything even though it's their website that's faulty.

First of all I'm really pleased that you got everything booked. Have you had any joy with RBS and the missing money?

Fireworks reservations (FP) cannot be booked until the month of, or a few weeks out. They just aren't available in the system to book so try not to worry too much about that. When are you going?

I don't think there is any harm in a letter, specifically about the payment issues. I had a problem with them in 2010 and wrote a letter and they eventually sorted out what they could, reimbursed me for my extra costs and gave me a goodwill payment by way of apology. However that was something that was clear to Disney was their error. You would need to convince them that the difficulties were caused by WDTC and not by something outwith their control or by the bank. Regarding the funds, you may have better luck taking this one up with your bank and see where you go. I think your challenge is that you don't know exactly how the problem occurred and nobody seems to be taking ownership for it.

It is not that Disney don't fly from Scotland; aside from VA on very select dates, there are no airlines offering direct flights from Scotland. What is your BA route? We have flown EDI-LGW-MCO with BA and this year I have code share flights flying with BA and American Airlines GLA-LGW-MCO. It is all booked on one ticket reference and you get your luggage checked all the way through both ways so don't worry about that. :thumbsup2 Also, if you can do OLCI, you get a head start on picking your seats for the transatlantic flights because you can check in for both flights as soon as the booking window opens up for your first one.

To start with Disney don't have an airline - they buy seats on other airlines flights. They can only sell what they have been allocated.

Was there any reason you ended up booking by phone rather than online? You can book deposit only online too.

As you have to take an indirect flight anyway you may have been better just booking accommodation with Disney (or even looking at Disney US) and then booking the flights on your own as you could have picked a route that suited you.

Give it 24 hours and your reservation could link with your 6 digit booking reference ::yes::

As has been said before you can still start booking ADRs you just won't get the plus 10 perk. Also firework viewing isn't booked like it used to be as its no longer a perk of booking through WDTC UK - they only way is FP+ which can't be done until 60 days out.

Last year I booked only a few months before going and booked flight inclusive, Disney give you the choice of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness to connect via in their drop down menu.

Disney will give you the BA booking reference which you can then use to check your flight on the BA website under Manage Your Booking and your flights will be linked and luggage will be routed through to Orlando from your departure airport.

For this years holiday I had booked it last year when the FD offers came out and added the flights later. As it turned out I booked the flights through Disney as it worked out the same price at the time as booking via BA but I only had to pay a deposit instead of the full amount booking with BA.

As Elise says you may not need the 12 digit number, my booking appeared on MDE with the 6 digit booking number when logging on to MDE via my laptop.

I tried to book online again and another £300 went AWOL so I called to book over the phone.

The Agent on the phone said it was an IT error and a lot of people had this problem when booking from the UK this weekend.

I asked to fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh and she said disney don't book thru flights so I have to travel to Manchester or London and fly from there, I explained the website offered me GLA-LGW-MCO and she was adamant that disney couldn't book a thru flight so it would have to be LGW-MCO and we have to make our way to London. She said the fact I was trying to book a thru flight online was probably what was making my transaction fail.

Not your fault but that is nonsense, you need to call back and get a different agent.

First check out BA's website and see what flights are available from Glasgow and Edinburgh via Gatwick for the dates you require, check the prices then phone back and ask them to check BA for the flights you would like.

I do think a strongly worded letter is in order, there is definitely availability on the BA Glasgow to Gatwick flight as I checked with them this morning, only 7 seats left though so I really need to book that or I risk being stuck in Scotland or not giving myself enough time to transfer flights.

Called disney and I was told that I can't change the flights now so I'm totally stuck, feel really let down.

Before you start with letters, it may be worth giving them a call and asking to speak to a supervisor, explain what happened and see what can be done to rectify it.

What date are you flying out? If you were able to book deposit only, you must be at least 8 weeks out. I wouldn't worry too much about availability. There is an early flight from Edinburgh as well and it will get you there in plenty time for your connection. I fly in under 4 weeks and there is plenty availability on the Glasgow flight. Did you check in Manage My Booking or did you do a Flight Stats availability check? Neither are completely accurate. In fact because you have to pay to choose seats more than 24 hours in advance with BA, using the booking page is entirely inaccurate as very few people pay for their seats, opting to wait for OLCI. The only way to find out is to phone the airline and ask what the availability is for that flight and hope that they give you the correct answer.

ETA: Sorry you did say in an earlier post it was November. Ignore my earlier question.

Just thought I'd update.

I called and asked to speak to a supervisor or manager, they seemed really helpful and said that although I was misinformed they can't change my booking now and they can't help with any problems I'll have with thru baggage or if a flight is late and misses a connection.

I asked if I could cancel and rebook without losing my deposit and was told no.

I asked if Disney could help pay for the extra flights and baggage I was going to be out - that was a no too.

So I'm back to square 1, next time I'm going to just book through expedia.

Hello everyone, I too have had a nightmare booking with Disney! but I have managed to get ALL of my money back!

I'll start at the beginning... tried to book a 10 day break for my husband and myself for next March, on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend, doing it online and every time I typed in my bank details and clicked it to go through, it kept coming up with Rats! something went wrong etc tried multiple times and gave up, On the Monday I attempted it with my husbands bank card, same account different name thought it was worth a shot, but the exact same thing happened again and again so I phoned them and attempted to book it that way... suprise, suprise it didn't work and I was told a block had been put on my card

The next day we went to the bank to find out what had happened, it turned out that Nationwide had blocked my card as 4 separate transactions of £300 had gone through... no confirmation e-mail. NOTHING.

WE WERE £1,200 poor! luckily the bank were amazing and assured us that the money was neither in the account, or in Disney's possession, it was on hold so meant that we could get it back, they lady dealing with us, who was an absolute gem phoned someone who then gave her the 4 transaction numbers, time and date and instructed us to phone Disney, explain what had happened and to ask them to fax the bank on letter headed paper with our account number, my name, postcode and the transactions with numbers so that we could get the money back within 2 working days.

The lady I spoke to at Disney was lovely, apologetic and understanding when I said no to re-booking as right then in time we had absolutely NO money in our account

We thought that was that so a bit worried we went home to plan an activity-less week off as we were in the overdraft of our account.

On thursday we popped back to the bank, a different branch and asked what was going on as the money had not made its way back in to our account my pay had gone in, but was on hold as well for some reason so we were still penniless. They told us it would be cleared by Friday.

Friday came and we had nothing still, Saturday nothing.. Monday this week nothing... so I went back to the bank to ask what was going on as by now we had had to lend money for fuel and food and Disney had got the fax WRONG! they had not included our bank card details, or our postcode so we had been waiting on NOTHING for almost a week but it turns out that because we paid with a visa card and the money was still on hold it would bounce back into our account at Midnight Monday night?

And it did! so we have our money back completely, I am writing a letter of complaint to Disney as we went into our over draft and a week off that we had been planning for, for 2 months was ruined.

We will be re-booking but with our credit card this time so we know we are fully covered should it happen again

I hope other people who have had the same problem have got their money back too
