Help - Cricut vs Sizzix - Scrapbookers!!

I am thinking about getting a Cricut or Sizzix Machine for myself for Christams but I am really confussed... about them all.. do I need one or I am better off just buying the things? I haved scrapped for a while but love it when I did when my daughter was a baby... and want to start back in full force again... So I am treating myself for Christmas (well from hubby) and looking for some suggestions... I have never used either - I have always just bought or cut stuff out by hand... Thanks for the help...

I love the cricut! The cartridges can be expensive. I have gotten so much use out of my Mickey Font and Mickey and Friends cartridges. Definitely saved me money over buying alphabet letter stickers and Disney die cuts. If you have any friends with cricut cartridges it's great to be able to share them.

When you have school aged children it's great to make titles for science fair boards, class projects, etc.

Cricut would be my pick! The sizzix needs more dies for a single cut while the cricut cards are more expensive but they have multiple fonts and/or pics to choose form. The ability to change fonts and size is a major plus also!!

I had the Sizzix first back when they only would work with Sizzix dies. Then I upgraded to the Cuttlebug because I could use any dies with it. This summer I treated myself to the Cricut (a birthday/mothers day gift) and I wish I had done it sooner! The first thing I made was a Tigger with the Pooh cartridge...easiest thing I have ever made and looks like a store bought die! This machine is amazing, there's nothing it can't do! The cartridges can be expensive, but I've bought all of mine off ebay and have gotten some unbelievable prices. I can honestly tell you that since I've had this machine I haven't bought any dies from the store. Everytime my dd and I start to put one in our cart we remind ourselves we can make it at home. I bought mine from HSN as a bundle package and it came with some cartridges. Have fun shopping!

I agree with the others who have posted about going with the Cricut. I have a Sizzix but I haven't touched it since I bought my Cricut three years ago. Yes, the machine is a bit more but it is much more flexible and you can get good prices on cartridges if you shop around.

I have both and I vote Cricut hands down!!! My sizzix maching is storing dust in my basement and I really just need to sell it. I use my Cricut ALL the time! Not only do I use it for scrapbooking, but I also find I use it a lot with my kids school projects. I made a lot of bulletin boards when my dd was in preschool, and now that she is in K I have used it on projects she has needed for school, in fact I just used it this weekend to make her "star of the week" poster. I also used it this weekend to add the year to some pottery barn kids photo ornaments I bought instead of paying them $6.50 to write 2010 on it. It looks like I bought them that way!! There is soooo much you can do with it! There are even little markers you can get for it so that you can have it write and draw things too. My advice, when you do the really small letters and numbers with it, use the X tape (it's literally shaped like an X, can't think of the name right now), but it turns whatever you put into it into a sticker. Much easier than trying to glue those super tiny letters down.

Another vote for the Cricut. I started with the small, but soon got the Expression, which I love. Buying the cartridges can be addictive, so beware!

I have a sizzix and my sister has a cricut....but both collect dust. As we do digital scrapbooking! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Don't have to store anything but data in my computer and much faster and cheaper! But have fun with whatever you decide!

Another vote for Cricut! I LOVE mine. I don't get to scrapbook as often as I'd like but the cricut is so versatile.

If you watch for sales you can find the cartridges cheap.

The Cricut is amazing! I have had mine for 3 years now and just upgraded to the Expression. There are three models the two smaller machines cut with a mat that is 6x12. The expression cuts with a 12x12 mat, and has lots of special features. If you can swing it get the Expression, so much more versitile. www.cricutmachine.com is having a great sale right now. WOW thanks Everyone - I think I might do it!!! I am writing down Cricut Expression Where do you find the cartridges???? Soes the machine come with a cartridge so I can use it right away? My Hubby has offered to build me a table in the basement so I can keep my stuff out all the time - I am actually getting pretty excited

I think that the Cricut will be the best cutter for you. The cartridges are expensive but you get a lot of images on them.

I have just about every cutter out there. Wishblade, Cricut Cake, Cricut, Cricut Expression, Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Wishblade, Accu Cut and I honestly like the Cricut the best.

I would actually go with the Sizzix if you're just starting to scrap again. I went Cuttlebug to start and for small projects it is just right. You can use the Michael's coupon on the Cuttlebug. Manual dies are a lot cheaper than cartridges.

And jump down to the Scrapbook Board. They are my heroes. You post a question, you will have an answer in a matter of minutes.

I LOVE my Cricut Expression. I buy a lot of my cartridges from www.customcrops.com or even right now AC Moore and Michael's have carts on great sales if you just want to pick them up in a store. The Expression is the way to go.

Cricut is the best one going.

If your good with computers you can get a program and connect your cricut to the computer to make many different cuts.

On Black Friday I picked up a Cricut for $60 at Michaels. It was like finding buried treasure.
