Don't disparage about the pool view from concierge. We actually enjoyed it. I loved being right under the thatched roof. Here are a couple of pics.

Wow, Diane. Your pics are GREAT. That one pic overlooking the pool is just amazing. We have ressies for a 1-BR at VWL and am on a waitlist for AKV. I haven't been to either and will be super happy regardless. However, I have to admit, I waitlisted us because the kids wanted to stay at AKV, but I wasn't overly excited. After seeing your pics, that's really changed my mind! Thanks for posting!

I'll see you there! Look for me in the lounge. I'll be the guy from NY with the wife and 2 kids! Actually, we arrive late morning on the 13th and then leave late afternoon on the 18th so it looks like we've only got a brief overlap. Doing the Sunrise Safari on Thursday the 17th too.

We're doing the safari on Sunday the 20th but we'll be there for breakfast on all the other days.

We just got back Sunday from AKL concierge. We had a pool view and loved it. We liked the chocolates with the turn down service and the daily room service was nice
The offereings in the lounge were plentiful. In the morning, bagels, muffins, choclate croissants,breads, jams, cream cheese, yogurts, oatmeal, cereals. The fruit was real fresh, pineapple, strawberries, melon, watermelon, bananas. Coffee, cappuchino machine, teas,hot chocolate, juices, bottled water (evain and perrier)
During the day snacks were like goldfish, nuts, these special "chips" gummi bears, tonics, milk, water juice, smoothie, other beverages.
then at afternoon tea they had tea cookies and scones
At dinner there was 4 different wines, chardonnay, a rose and 2 reds ( I know 1 was a merlot) a couple of different beers. Each night there was a soup and then 2 meats like ribs, chicken wings lamb kafta etc there was nice vegetables, like artichokes, roasted peppers, carrots, celerey, there was hummus, and other dips and pita and other breads,crackers and cheeses.
After dinner, there were mini desserts like cookies, brownies, mini cheesecakes etc For beverages they brought out like kaluha, grand marnier etc
