HELP! Cinderella castle toy

[EDIT by Mod: This is just a joke post.. there is no such recall - CanadianGuy]

It's actually a steal by Disney standards...

But bad news, I just got off the phone with them and they are no longer available...they are all being recalled due to the lead paint issue in China we've all heard about. This includes all orders within the past week. They said they'll have to refund everyone's money. They have no idea when the corrected ones will be available, but it will be at least February.

Oh, and I'll sell my daughter's for $500 if anyone is interested.

LOL, sorry I couldn't help it. I'm just playing Satan tonight, I didn't get to dress up at Halloween. They are still available as far as I know.

I meant that the shipping to Canada was unfathomable ($75 bucks! Well, $75 US bucks which is about 50 bucks Canadian - j/k).

I was just thinking earlier, "Hey, what are the chances this is cheap Chinese cr*P?". Apparently, excellent. Sigh.

If only they had a Swedish-made Cinderella castle made from sustainably-harvested untreated wood painted with vegetable-based pigments and hemp twine (that would ship to Canada for domestic rates!) :lmao

We just got home and saw the big Cinderella's Castle toy in a bunch of stores. My dd wanted it so badly but I thought it would just be too hard to get home. They also sold it in the store in our hotel. I'd love to get it for her for Christmas. Do you think there's any way to order it from them and have them ship it???? Thanks!!!!

We were just there last week and we asked if it could be purchased in the Disney Store back home. The answer was no. It is only sold on Disney Property (Disney Resorts, Parks and Down Town Disney) So my Mom bought it for my Niece and had it shipped home. We bought it last Friday night and she received it yesterday. It really cute and Mom is trying so hard to not to give it to my Niece before Christmas LOL:lmao:

I am probably missing some info somewhere here. Does is come with all the figures? Are there extra things to buy available? We bought Dora dollhouse and then had to spend $$ on the furniture, figures (Now on their way to China) etc. This looks GREAT!!!!

Go to page 2, I posted a picture of all that's included...figures, furniture and all.

I did pay the $75 to ship to Canada, there was a $6 something customs charge. IMO it was still worth it though, the Sears version which is half the size with no figurines was $99. So really for $50 more we got an awesome doll house/castle with the dolls. I am still 100% satisfied with the cost and the product. :thumbsup2

Yikes- are they going to communicate a formal recall? I bough dd the monorail set in Oct, and she has an old castle set from 2 years ago... I want to know if they have lead paint!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I did not think this was funny! Lead paint in toys is not something to laugh about and it can cause great concern for a parent that has these toys. Please reconsider such inconsiderate posts in the future. For anyone that read these posts, this was not based on facts.

I guess I did not get the joke, as I was skimming the thread- that post freaked me out! There have been so many issues recently with lead paint that I would not be suprised that these toys have been effected.

I have to agree, I don't think that was very funny- not just because I did not get the joke, but this is the way rumours get started- I was planning to call Disney this afternoon to inquire, and I had already called my mom about it (she is the one who bought the monorail set). She was freaking out, too.

ugh!

There is no active recall on the castle playsets. As far as we know, these are fine.

Thanks,

Knox

Apparently, mine finally arrived yesterday early morning when I was asleep and it was delivered to one of my neighbors in my apartment complex to hold for me. Today, I found out but now I don't know who has it. I'm going crazy trying to get the package! I may have to wait until Monday to find out who has it because the office at my complex got it first and then they gave it to someone to hold for me but the office is closed until Monday. This sucks.

Buy one, let the kid play with it for a while and then sell it for a profit...I just looked at the completed auctions on Ebay and the used ones are selling for as much as $100 while the new boxed ones are going for that much and are also available BIN $80 and $35 shipping. Maybe I need to get into the castle flipping business. Here's a link:

We saw it during our visit in May and our two DD's loved it but we didn't buy it.
We came to WDW again last month and had already decided to purchase it before we arrived for their christmas present.
The store quoted us $75 to ship it back to the UK so we decided to take a risk and take it on the plane instead! We knew our Virgin flight was half empty so we didn't think it would be a problem. We hid it on checkin so when we turned up on the plane they had to take it (never do this sort of thing but was not prepared to pay $75 for shipping). The flight crew could not find a cupboard big enough to put it in for take-off so they had to seal off a washroom for take-off for it and then give it it's own seat once we had taken off. It was a headache but it was worth it.
Problem is DD4 has never asked for anything in her life, even after seeing commercials she nevers pressures us to buy her anything, but this christmas she asked us if we could ask Santa for two things - a toy that is a puppy that grows in four days and a skipping rope (she learnt to skip on Main St last month).
So it's stored in the garage as we have now decided to save it for her fifth birthday in April, so I don't get to get it out of the box until then!

I finally just got it this morning. The box was so big...I forgot how big the toy actually was. It came in a brown box so that the person recieving the gift won't know what it is unless you open it to the actual blue box that the toy is packaged in. I did take it out of the brown box to look at it and it looks great. I know DD will love it.

I'm finally done shopping for DD for xmas but now I'm on to DH!

Wasn't sure if it was already mentioned (didn't read all the past posts) but the Castle also works as part of the Disney monorail set. So if you have the monorail or any of the other parts, they all connect.

Also, I will say the shipping Disney charges for that item is very, very fair. Please keep in mind Disney doesn't ship by weight, but by cost -the more you spend, the cheaper the shipping. Thus, it doesn't always pay to use Disney merchandising to pay for one small item, better to order a whole bunch!

Thanks for the info Disney1976. Can anyone share more info about the monorail set? I don't know anything about it.

Allow me to tell you what I know. Disney has several "monorail" playset toys that can be used as stand alone types, or connected and made into one bigger set. First of course, is the actual monorail, with track. You can use this by itself, and they even sell additional track -I know someone who mounted the track onto the walls of their house and the monorail goes around all day long! The add-on pieces for the monorail are what you would expect to see at WDW - currently, I know they sell the TTC (I believe it was being discontinued) Contemporary Resort, the TOL from Animal Kingdom, and Cinderella's Castle. Some people do elaborate stagings where they buy each piece and re-create the "world". If I'm not mistaken, I believe the monorail can actually pass through the Contemporary! Obviously AK is not in real life on the monorail, so it doesn't actually connect to the rest of the sets, but again, if you have the room to re-create WDW, it's pretty cool. All of these sets vary in price (the monorail is about $100 I think) and most, if not all come with figurines to play with. Now discontinued sets (probably only available on ebay) include Space Mountain and the Polynesian Resort. I also know California Adventure used to sell (also discontinued) the roller coaster set, but it was never available at WDW.

All of the current stuff you can probably find listed for sale on ebay (I used to sell it on ebay all the time) or call Disney merchandising.

Hope that helps.
