I used to avoid hot feet by wearing my Tevas, but now Dr. says I have to wear closed toe, solid shoes or tennies. Help, my feet get so hot and sweaty. What tips do you have for avoiding the hot sweaty feeling in my feet at WDW?

I have read here that people put deoderant on their feet! I've never tried it, but they say it works!! :sunny:

I've also heard of special sport/hiking socks that wick moisture away from your feet. Does anybody on the boards know what these socks are called? I think I read a thread with a link to an online store that sells these socks. Hope this helps!

It is cool max socks. The 'cheapest' place I found to buy these socks is a website called www.longscycle.com - this site sells 'overstocks' of biking gear.

I bought some socks from here - the were very helpful (I called them to ask what to order) and I received the order in a timely fashion.

I use a product for runners called body glide (which prevents chafing and blisters) and wear the cool max socks - and on a 6 day trip had no issues with blisters (which is habitually a problem for me)

I am pretty sure the trouser socks that I bought from Target had a sticker on it that mentioned it had cool max - you might want to check it out. If so, then they should have regular socks with it in there also.

I went to the Cool Max site and they had cool max undershirts, would these keep your back sweat free. I have a tendency to get a heat rash on my back which drives me crazy with the itching. If these would eliminate the sweat from my back, I think I would pay big money.

If you need sandals with a closed toe, you could try a pair of Keens. They are really comfy! Check out Zappos.com for reviews.

This does work! I buy the cheapest deoderant I can find and put it on the bottom of my feet. Works great.

Also, try for a pair of sneakers that are more breathable. The ones made completely out of leather will automatically make your feet too hot. Look for more mesh on the shoes to help your feet to breath. There are several running sneakers that are made to be light weight and to assist in the prevention of hot feet

So glad I found this thread. Our trip to Vegas was horrible on my feet so I have been checking into what to do for our Disney trip. The deo on the bottom of your feet does work. I have done that. I just have a small travel size one that I wrote "FEET" on for this reason. I found some Cool Max socks at Wal-mart in both the Men's and Women's departments for a resonable price. I'm going to try those on this trip. As much as I would like to wear sandals, I have to have the support of tennies.

I ended up throwing away 2 pair of shoes (sandals and cheap canvas shoes) on our Vegas trip b/c of how bad they stunk...lol! :earseek: I have to have a better plan for this trip.

Definitely take a look at the Keens. I just ordered a pair of Keen Newport H2s which are kind of a cross between a supportive running/walking shoe and a sandal. We go to both WDW and Vegas and I have the same problem on both trips: lots of walking on hot pavement leading to hot, sweaty feet and blisters. I'm hoping that the Keens will give me the support I need but with the ventilation of a sandal to keep my feet cooler.

I have plastic arch supports I have to wear (no sandals for me ever) and my feet sweat because of the plastic...deoderant does work well. Someone else said it but avoid all leather shoes they just don't breathe.

I think someone said Target carries cool max socks. I know they are not online but check in their store.

What are Wicking socks made of that make them better?

I saw a thread on wicking socks on I think Mousesavers.com

i think its under the what to pack area. just surf around you will find lots of cool info there as well
