Hi,
I wonder if anyone could help me get things right in my head. DH and myslef have been members for 6 yrs we currently have 250 points. We are just about to add on 120 points giving us a grand total of 370 points per year.

Our use year is March. One of the main reasons we are adding on is that we would like to use the world passport collection. We are from UK and want to visit other states in USA and perhaps Asia etc.

Due to jet lag and time it takes we always go for 2 week vacations.

We are considering going to Las Vegas next Aug (06) Do you think we will be able to do it?
How exactly does it work?
What are your experiences of using world passport collection?
When would we be able to book it?
Where have you been - reviews?

I really hope someone can help me, I know I have asked a lot but your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It will cost $15 and believe me it is worth every cent.

I don't travel out of the South....So I can't help with Las Vegas trip. but I have been told that Polo is nice, so is the Hilton (however I don't it is in the world passport - RCI instead of II)

remember it will hot - very, very hot in Aug in Las Vegas - how about a Nov trip instead?

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I am a teacher and can only go in our summer holidays, hence August.
Have you used world passport before?
:)

yes for a friend last minute trip to Las Vegas to get married. It was their wedding present.

that was before I discovered II getaway, RCI, RCI last minute.

Fair warning... Las Vegas in August is like being in a jet furnace! You think Disney's hot... and forget that nonsense about it's a dry heat... so is a furnace LOL! Its HOTTER there and you are in a desert LOL!

Also, since it is hotter then hades, a lot of the top shows etc. are shut down. You might try looking at the various Vegas websites now to see what is going in the summer.

We go to Vegas a lot, and what Carol said is very true. Doing a google, search, I came up with this:

Average Temperatures in August: 89 degrees Farenheit (32 C)
High Temperature during the day: 103 degrees (40 C)
Low Temperature at night: 74 degrees (23 C).

If by chance you're there during a hot spell, temperatures can hit 110 or better (44 C). We were there one summer with highs in the 115 range.

Now the good news is that everything is air conditioned. You don't have to go outside.

Now I though you did have to go outside to club hop.

are all the clubs connected and you don't have to go outside at all???

how about the monrail is it finished?

I would not recommend using DVC points to trade into a Las Vegas property in August. The reason I say this is because August is the time of year that Las Vegas hotels heavily discount room rates. Las Vegas in August is so hot I swear when you walk out the door of a hotel it literally feels like you walked under one of those heat lamps that they use to keep food warm in greasy spoon restaurants.

If you want to go to Vegas in August I suggest you instead focus on getting a room/suite at the Bellagio/Venetian/Mandalay/THEHotel/Four Seasons/etc. Las Vegas has truly magnificient hotels and if you go during a time of year when things are really cheap, why not stay at these 5 star hotels?

Having been to Vegas many times and each time heavily researched and tracked pricing I recommend these links:

(Priceline and Hotwire bidding message board plus a good section on current hotel specials being offered)

(lots of input on hotels an dining in Las Vegas by readers as well as links to travel sites and ratings)

Lots of travel offers and message board postings of endusers telling what good deals are out there.

Good information on entertainment and dining.

Some more things I just thought of. If you are the type that wants to go visit clubs, I recommend looking for passes to the clubs on Ebay. Entrance into some of the night clubs costs $20+ a person but passes can be found on ebay for waaaaay less.

Shows can sometimes be had for 50% off at Tickets2nite who are same day ticket broker and are located in inside the Coca Cola store (across the street from MGM, inside the giant coke bottle). You wont find any Cirque shows or high demand shows like Penn and Teller/Danny Gans, but you will be able to find less popular shows and some comedy and concerts. My wife and I bought $100 tickets to see ZZTop for half off when we there.
More info on this can be found here

is you want a good summer location - how about Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Not the DVC one - but Marriott's Grande Ocean - this is a GREAT resort.

or even New Jersey if you want to gamble.

Do you know where there is a list of all the available world passport collection resorts? I can't seem to find one anywhere.

If you go to the members only web site, there is a complete listing of both World Passport and Concierge Collection resorts.

DH is in Las Vegas right now. It is 107 degrees. He hasn't been out of the hotel.
