I called WDW CRO #, but got WDTC. I asked to be transferred to CRO, but she said she could help me with anything CRO could. I had read here that cancellation policies weren't the same, but she did tell me that I could cancel up to 5 days before arrival for full refund of deposit, and that I have 14 days from today to pay deposit equal to one night's stay. We will be checking in on 12/31 (holiday rate) and staying for 4 nites (value rates begin on 1/1). I asked "don't I need to make 2 separate ressies to avoid being charged holiday rates for the last 3 nites?" She said no, that I'd have to take that up directly with the resort when we paid the bill. I KNOW I've read here and other places that you need to make 2 separate ressies in a case like this--haven't I?

When she gave me the totals, I am being charged the holiday rate for all 4 nites. Should I just call back and talk to a different CM?

Also, when (if) AP rates come out for that time period, do you think there would ever be a discounted rate for 12/31?

Thanks!

Sue

What you should have done was ask for one reservation for one night only, then a second reservation for the following 3 nights. Then the 3 nights would be at the lower rate, and the one night would be the higher rate. I would call back and give them your reservation number and ask to have it changed to two separate reservations linked together.

That's exactly what I would do as well! Every time we've had trips that spanned different pricing *seasons* we've had to have 2 separate reservations. Make sure they are linked so you can be assured you will have the same room. Moving mid-trip isn't really all that fun, IMO.

I agree with the others, definitely call back and re-do your reservations. That's got to be some rate you're paying if it's all based on holiday rates! I don't believe you'll ever find a discount that will apply to 12/31, getting the value rate on the other nights will save you a bunch though!

Something may come out for your other dates. If it does, you'll at least be apply to apply a discount to that portion, if you have them booked separately from 12/31.

Thanks guys! See what hangin' at the Dis will get you? LOTS of money saved!!! I called back and got a different CM, and sure enough, she changed it to 2 separate reservations. Boy, it never ceases to amaze me the different stories you'll get depending on which CM you talk to! Imagine all the "uninformed" folks who just take as gospel whatever a CM tells them! Now, I have to decide what exciting things to do on New Year's Eve (with little kids!--can't get *too* crazy:jester: ) Who else will be at the CR then?
