I can't wait to hear about your trip, too. There were a few times that week that I would see someone who looked like you, and I would wonder, "Hey, is that alleymaxx?" :)

OH NO !!! :scared1::eek::mad::sad2::eek:

Yesterday, I was so excited to see an envelope from Disney in my mailbox. I ripped it open to find a one page letter on the cutest stationary. I was thinking, "Oh, what cute paper. I've never gotten anything on that sort of paper." Then, I began reading:

"'Dear Disney Guest,

We're so excited that you've chosen Disney's Beach Club/Yacht Club for your upcoming visit. We know that one of the exciting parts about a stay at BC/YC is Storm-along-Bay. SAB has been the source of great fun over the past years at BC/YC. However, refurbishment needs to take place on the water slide, so that it can continue to provide great fun to families.

Beginning May 2, the water slide at SAB will be closed for refurbishment until late May. The pool will remain open. Guests who desire a pool slide, may use the Keister Coaster at nearby Boardwalk."

WHAT????? First off, I don't want to use that scary clown slide! :scared1:

and secondly, 'Define late May!' Will it be operational by May 22 ?

AND of course, yesterday was my 45 days out, so now if I try to make a change, I'm penalized! YUCK! :headache:

I read about that on another PTR, that just stinks! Especially since I know when you changed your ressie to BCV Storm-a-long Bay was a big reason for it. :sad2:

And, I TOTALLY understand not wanting to use that creepy clown slide! :scared1:

I bet if you really wanted to change your ressie you could. I mean how could they penalize you when they made this closure so late in the process :confused3 I would just call and talk to them about it if you really want to switch.

Oh no Michelle! That stinks. SAB is a large part of the reason people stay at BC.

You had me laughing about the scary slide at Boardwalk. It is scary.

But - I'd look at it this way. When we were there in '08, some kids would use the slide once or twice, then be done for the trip. They mostly played in and around the pool. So they really may not be missing too much, since the whole pool will still be open.

Also, it's an opportunity to use the Boardwalk pool, which isn't always an option. Maybe you could use it during rest time as an opportunity to swim in that pool, let the kids slide, and goof around on the boardwalk a bit watching the jugglers and magicians and such. Maybe otherwise you wouldn't have had that chance.

But, let's just hope that late May means it will be reopened during your trip and all will be well.

So sorry for this news. But you're still going to Disney World, right? Still a fantastic vacation.

Oh BOO!! Who in the HE** thinks that creepy clown is any substitute!?!?

Sorry for that bummer!! Maybe it will be done by the time you get there...pixie dust headed your way!

Oh no! Why would they decide to refurb the slide in the summer? :confused3 Seems like awfully bad timing to me. I'm so sorry about this! I so hope by the time you get there the slide will be back up and running! But even if its not, I still think you'll have a great stay there. And at least they aren't closing the entire pool down - so that's a good thing, right?

Oh goodness--what bad news. I sure hope that it is open for you when you get down there. Perhaps they would let you switch without penalty since they are doing refurbs? I thought I had read that people were able to use this as a loophole to get changes made without penalty.

I really don't think I want to change my reservation, even as bummed out about SAB as I am. I'm going to cross my fingers that we get to enjoy it at least part of the trip. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I know, who wants to visit that freaky clown?

Thanks for the pixie dust, Katie. :goodvibes

Apparently, the slide has become less "slippery", so they are trying to repair that, and they had to wait for materials and until contractors could complete the work. :confused3

The rest of the pool will be open----I just hope we get to go down that slide at least once!

I don't know, Stephanie. I do think that we want to stay there, regardless, of the slide situation. It's just a bummer for the slide to be out of operation. :sad2:

Thanks, Susan. :) You really pointed out some good thoughts, that I hadn't even considered.

You're right...........I'll still be at Disney World! :goodvibes

Aww... that just stinks! And what terrible timing, DVC ressie-wise. :sad2:

On the bright side, its just the water slide that may be closed during your visit, right? Definitely a bummer, but there will still be a lot of that fabulous pool complex to enjoy...

Chin up, you're going to Disney NEXT MONTH!!! :cool1:

Kathy

I just read about the slide being closed. That stinks. The pool looks awesome no matter what, but I won't want to have to tell my dh and dd the main slide is closed at our pool. They would not be happy. I think the slide at Boardwalk looks pretty cool besides the clown. Too bad it's hard to miss the clown.

Yes, just the water slide--the pool will stay open. :upsidedow

My chin's up! :) I'm going to Disney World next month! :woohoo:

Too bad it's hard to miss the clown.
Even when I close my eyes, I can still see that clown.......Remember that scary movie where that clown was killing people? *SHIVER*

I guess the cute stationary was to offset the crappy news! I don't blame you one iota for not wanting to use the scary creepy clown slide. I'm not even scared of clowns and that one looks just plain weird.

But, like you said, you'll still be at Walt Disney World and maybe, just maybe, you'll get to use the slide before they shut it down.

Sorry to hear about the BC slide. I immediately thought of yesterday when I saw that update in my email yesterday.
