Ack, I forgot the bird/cat part. We had two parakeets for a while, and had at least 2 cats at the time. We never had any problems although the cats did enjoy sitting and bird watching. But they never went after the birds. I think the part I would be most concerned about is if the birds are let out for a short while. Any time I took the parakeets out (one like to sit on my shoulder) I would just make sure the cats were closed in another room.

Yeah, and she's a conure with an attitude, and she's pretty smart. I'm pretty sure she would do her best to not let a kitty get her. But, the kitties are smart and fast as well! The claw cap thing seemed so funny. They made it sound so simple on the instructions. You just simply squeeze the cats foot so the claws pop out, then fill the cap half way with glue and stick it on the claw. And the best thing is, they say hold the cat still for 5 or 10 minutes while glue dries. They should last about a month. Imagine going through that once a month!:rotfl:

Oh man, haha. I think I could do something like that with one of my cats easily. She loves to get her paw massaged. It's funny that I hate feet but when it comes to the pads on my cats foot I think they are adorable. But I could never do that to her. They aren't outdoorcats in the sense that I let them out every day or they stay outside, but one of my cats is a clever escape artist and if a door is open long enough she'll dart out. I would hate to think she didn't have the use of her claws while outside.

Andrea, now that I think about it, you'd like my kitty Ella. She's got a little MJ paw going on.

Aww, an MJ paw would be cute! Lol.

Yeah my moms cats like to sit and watch her bird (she's got a cockatiel), but they never try to go after him or anything. And she puts the cats away when the bird is out, like you suggested. If the bird doesn't fly around too much, I doubt the cat would have much interest if they were around when he was out. It's the flying that attracts their attention the most I think.

Yeah, that's what everyone calls it. She's a darker cat, not all the way black because she's a tortie. But she's got this one white paw that is just too cute.

My cats are more interested in watching the things that move outside the window.

GAH! My mother just let Ella run right past her as she went out to get the mail. Grr.

I take it Ella is the sneaky one that likes to get out? lol. Funny how you were just talking about that, and she gets out. Ellie never had any interest in being outside. She was happy watching from the windows. When watching birds outside she would make a funny clicking sound. It was cute. Funny how our cats names are almost the same, lol.

For some reason Dillon is watching the Discovery Channel, and there's this guy who is trying to be like Steve Irwin, and he is doing stupid things. He spent like 10 minutes chasing a snake around and then acted surprised when it bit him. Not so smart if you ask me!

Yeah, Ella is the escape artist. My other cat, Lilly, pretty much runs and hides whenever the door opens. She's such a ball of nerves which is probably why she and I get along so well. Lilly will not go near anyone else in the house, which is how she became my cat after she was supposed to be my mom's birthday present. I'm horrible though, I saw Ella hovering when my mom went to get the mail. I knew exactly what she was going to do and did nothing to stop her. I love their little bleating noise, as I like to call it. Ella does it frequently.

Things like that remind me of the Darwin Awards. And as much as I don't want to say it, a perfect example happened yesterday with the tsunami warnings along our coast. Some idiots got too close to the waves here in CA just so they could take photos and got swept out to sea. I think on of them didn't survive. It's horrible for his family, and death period is a horrible thing, but if you're stupid enough to do that in the first place it serves you right.

I read about that when Michele posted it. It really was a dumb thing to do. They knew it was coming, I am sure there would have been better places to take the pictures. No photo is that important to risk your life over. And I feel the same way about these animal shows. Yeah it's cool to see them up close and personal, but seriously. After the snake video, he decided to go hang out with a herd of stampeding elephants. I think he's lost some brain cells in all this animal chasing. As much as I don't want to say it, Steve Irwin probably had it coming to him with the sting ray. If you spend that much time with dangerous animals, eventually it's not going to turn out well!

Something that is really bugging me right now is that a lot of people are saying they think Japan deserves what they got with the Tsunami because of Pearl Harbor.

First of all, how many years ago was that? Second of all, America did get their revenge eventually, x 100. How does all these people losing their lives and their homes have anything to do with justice over Pearl Harbor????

Sorry, just had to get that out there.

I used to keep my car terribly cluttered when I was younger. I used to tell my dad it was to improve my gas mileage by balancing the weight.

That kind of ignorance bothers me no end.

That's crazy talk. People are nuts. It's sort of like slavery. We are still apologizing for that. How many years has that been???? And anyways, i never owned a slave, i have nothing to apologize for. But it still has to be brought up everytime you turn around. People need to get to stop digging up bones.

I'm worried sick about my husband. He left Thursday night for Juneau to work on a rock crusher they are using in a mine there. He called Thursday night when he got there and i have not spoke with him since. I call his cell phone and it goes right to voicemail. Yesterday i called it and it rang but no answer. He was supposed to be home last night, or today. I have heard nothing, he didn't even call me last night, and he always does. I would die if anything happened to him. Am i just being a worrywart?

I think you have every right to be worried. I would be. Hopefully you hear from him real soon.

Chrissie, I would be worried too. Maybe his phone isn't working for some reason? Or maybe he is out of range for some reason?

Thanks, Andrea. I will give him a few more hours. I keep telling myself if something happened somebody would have called. Maybe he is just really busy or cell phone reception is bad there.
