Is there any listing on the height restrictions for attractions at the DL Resort?

Hi
Most of the rides are 42-44inches, with a couple of the biggies at 46/48inches. I think that they list them at the www.disneyland.com site. I know that our 51/2 year old will be able to ride everything except 1 or 2 rides & he's a pretty average sized kid.

Tracy (54 days to go)

Here ya go:

Disneyland

Splash Mountain - 40"
Indy - 46"
Big Thunder - 40"
Autopia - 52" to ride alone
Space Mountain - 40"
Star Tours - 40"
Gadget's Go Coaster - 35"
Matterhorn - 35"

California Adventure

Grizzly River Run 42"
Redwood Challenge Trail - 42" on certain challenges only
Soarin' over California - 40"
California Screamin' - 48"
Jumpin Jellyfish - 40"
Maliboomer - 52"

Happy Planning!

Are there also age restrictions on Matterhorn and Gadget's Go Coaster? We may get to go to DL this summer and our youngest son will be over 35", but I thought that I read that a child also has to be 3yo (he would be 2 1/2yo). If there is do they really check? It wouldn't be hard to check since a 3yo would have a park pass and a 2yo wouldn't.

There are no age restrictions according to the park maps. We had a 2 yr. old
on the Matterhorn last spring. He loved it!

I just took this picture today - they are testing a new system at Disneyland. They check a child's height with an electronic sensor that determines the child's height, then they give the child a wristband that tells which rides the child will be able to ride. The color coding scheme is a little confusing at first, but it seems like a good idea - better than getting to the front of the line and finding out your child is too short.

Good that there are no age restrictions. My 2yo is a real daredevil and gets bored with the "baby" rides and impatient in shows. He's been to WDW 3 times and could do quite a bit there except for the e-rides. Is there much for a toddler to do at California Adventure?

Thanks, Tigger&Belle

I forgot to ask--are the Matterhorn and Gadget's Go Coaster fastpass attractions? If so, how does it work with a 2yo? He wouldn't have the fastpass since he wouldn't be old enough for a park ticket.

Tigger&Belle,

There is no fastpass set up for Matterhorn (yet) or Gadget's GoCoaster. In fact when
we were there on the 11th, Gadget's was the longest line at 40 min. We took the 2 yr.
old on Autopia last spring (he didn't drive.) The rest of us had a fastpass, he obviously didn't.
They just waved him through.

One of my kindergarten students had a Disneyland wristband on the other day. He said
the new system of measuring is located at the end of Main Street near the "attractions"
board. Teri's picture verifies that. He was given a green wristband. He went on Matterhorn
and Roger Rabbit's but said that his older sister who was given a blue band was able to go
on everything including Indy.

As far as DCA goes for Toddler's, personally I'd wait until Flik's Fantasy Faire is built before I'd
spend the money for a pass for them. Right now, they're limited to It's Tough to be a Bug, the Redwood Challenge Trail, Muppets 3D, King Triton's Carousel. the Golden Zephyr (if it's not windy) and the Sunwheel. Definately not enough to make a day out of. Go to www.mouseinfo.com
for more info on Flik's Fantasy Faire. Projected opening date is sometime this fall.

Hope this helps!

Too bad about Flik's not opening until fall. IF we go it would be in August when we take our mainly Oregon vacation. Are there height restrictions on Roger Rabbit--I don't see that on the list? A very crowded time of the year I know. I wonder if we'd have better luck finding more family attractions at Universal. Any idea?

Tigger&Belle,

There is no height restriction on Roger Rabbit's. As far as Uni goes, I actually
haven't been there very much (Much prefer the Mouse!) even though I live
only about 30 min. away. I do remember the kids enjoying the ET ride and
Jurassic Park when we visited there about 4 years ago. It's changed a lot since
then. I'm sure you could find more out on their website. Let me know if I
can help with your planning and e-mail me directly if you like.

I looked at the Universal website and I don't think that we'd be happy there since we just went to Universal Orlando and there is a lot in common with those parks. Also, Orlando is so much bigger with lots of different thigs to do, so we'd probably compare the two and I'm afraid that Hollywood wouldn't win. We're waiting to go back to Orlando until our youngest is 42 inches tall so we can do more rides as a family (Men in Black, Spiderman, etc).

And idea how Knott's Bery Farm would compare to DL for toddlers? Maybe we should skip Disney for a couple of years and try something different.

<font color=navy>Knotts is great for toddlers 3 & up. There is a Camp Snoopy area with a lot of rides for the little ones, plus their shows and other attractions. My kids loved it there, and still enjoy it.

Knotts is so close to the DL resort that you could do both parks. (10-15 mins by freeway, and 20-30 by surface streets)

I agree with MaryJo. Knott's is great fun for all ages. In August, you also might want
to check out the new water park next to Knott's called Soak City. Haven't personally
been there, but I hear it's tons of fun!

Does Camp Snoopy have height restrictions on the rides or is it more of an interactive play area? My youngest son is 35 inches now (almost 36" with shoes) and will hopefully grow by August, but not to the magic 40" for some rides. How are the rides for the older kids at Knott's--my other kids are 8, 11, and 14yo? I haven't been to Knott's for years (and years...) and I bet it's changed a lot. The water park sounds good--we went to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach in Orlando last summer and really enjoyed ourselves.

How about hotels? If we go to Knott's we wouldn't be going to DL so the hotel doesn't need to be convient to Disney. We're going to be spending most of our time in Oregon where I am from, but we may fly our older two kids out early to visit my in-laws who live in Sun City (just moved there from Anaheim).

Thanks for all the help. I have to always be planning a vacation--keeps me dreaming! LOL

My last message isn't showing up on the DL message board main page. Hmmm, maybe this reply will.
