Heelys for a 7-yo? How much? Where?

OK, perhaps they are not the root of all evil but you come off as incredibily inconsiderate about where/when you allow your children to wear their heelys. We are all telling you that it's not your child's safety you should only be concerned about but rather the other people's safety, not to mention they shouldn't have to put up with it period in public places where heelys are banned. What part of this are you not getting???? If you choose to let your children do things that may get them hurt, that is your decision...but don't subject other's to it.

So perhaps they should only enjoy using them in a caged/padded area free from all other people? And I am not inconsiderate, I use common sense and allow my children to do what I think is appropriate and isnt based on the actions of others.

Who wouldnt? Thats besides the point. The point is that heelys are not the root of all evil. My goodness...it just amazes me the parents on this board. I grew up doing a lot of stupid stuff and my parents let us. We learned by it. My brothers and sisters were big into skateboarding- my parents let them build ramps.

Yes, but I'll bet that your siblings didn't use their skateboards inside a grocery/department store.

Nope...but they did ride them in the street :scared: and in parking lots....near unsuspecting cars :scared: and on sidewalks! The same sidewalks innocent elderly people WALK ON! OMG :scared: :scared: :scared:

Well, quite frankly I could care less if the area is padded for your kids to use them in...it's up to you if you want them skating down a concrete driveway or in a padded cage...but yes, it should be free of other people who don't wish to partake in that activity or have to worry about their safety. Do you let your child play hockey at the grocery store? Nevermind, don't answer that...I can only imagine your ignorant response to that question.

And by letting your kids do things that are not based on the actions of others...well I can certainly see that - doesn't matter if someone has taken action to ban heelys from a certain place, because apparently if you feel that it is appropriate for your child to skate there then by golly they will.

You know really, are you just trying to keep this going or are you really that ignorant to believe what you are saying? I find it completely tactless and disrespectul that you come off as having no common courtesy towards other people.

Just trying to prove that uptight moms arent the only right ones. Some of us parent differently and our kids still make it in the world...and probably with less psychiatry bills.
