I know I will be flamed it was just my opinion, hopefully the kids who are wearing them are careful and considerate of those who are not wearing them ( not running us over)>

No flames from me, as a matter of fact, I'll up the ante and go as far as saying that I would laugh my butt off if I was in a store and a kid fell while wearing a set of these and broke their arm / leg / head / neck I think I would stand back and point and laugh :) :rotfl2: :rotfl: (ok, I probably wouldnt point if they broke their neck).

As others have said, WHY would you let your kids wear these in places where you arent allowed to roller skate / skateboard etc etc? Or why have them in the first place? This is just one of those things that makes no sense to me :confused3 :confused3

I know...owning up to my kids mistakes and not treating them like a precious little snowflake...letting them get hurt and learn...oh my!

It's really not about YOUR kids getting hurt, it's about YOUR kids hurting others. There might be a time and a place for those shoes, but Wal-Mart or any other store for that matter is not one of them. How would you feel if you had a young child with you who was ran over by a kid on those, or if an elderly family member was knocked down and suffered a serious break or something because of someone's careless attitude about letting their child wear them in places they don't belong.

My dd wants them for Christmas...she is not getting them. Not because I treat her as a precious little snowflake but because she really doesn't have a place to correctly learn how to use them or enjoy them and I wouldn't risk other people's health by letting her use them in a public place.

These are SHOES with little wheels....seriously....give me a break. My son plays hockey and slams into people left and right. I'm gonna go ahead and guess your kids play piano and maybe badminton.

Ya know these shoes are really and truely the most dumb things I have ever seen.

Its going to take those who are all about these and commenting that we treat our kids like "snowflakes" to get a reality check really.

When someone gets hurt and they get a lawsuit for it then I bet the shoes will go in the trash, unless they blame the other person for it ( I am sure they will).

If you need wheels to get around cause your to lazy to pick up your feet and walk well there is something seriously wrong. those are basiclly roller skates. i see kids go thru the parking lot on them and they are lucky they don't get hit by a car honestly.

I thinkthe kids who have those, they need the parents onthem :rotfl: to then they can get injusred together and we can ALL LAUGH:cloud9: :rotfl2: at them.

Someold woman needs to come by with a cane and trip them , see how well they wheel away after that!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

If any parent lets there kid wear these things in a irresponsible way they deserve every accident and more to come. they are as stupid as the kids wearing them if not more so they paid for them!

If you have them use them as roller blades/skates not shopping and running kids down and elderly people

That's great that your son plays hockey. (and any other activity, for that matter :thumbsup2 ) But when he's on the ice or deck, other people are expecting to be slammed into. I don't think people expect that running errands. I'm going to assume positive intent on your son's part and would think that he wouldn't intentionally run into someone, but accidents are callled that for a reason. my .02

See...my kid did get hurt. And I dont think the world will end because of it.

I understand what you are saying...they are prepared to be ran into. But still kids get hurt. Its a way of life. One kid last year got his collarbone broken and he was only 6 yrs old. No matter how much you prepare for life there are still unexpected accidents and people get hurt. I dont think we should all live our lives wearing couch cushions duct taped around our bodies. We need to be able to embrace REAL life and let our kids fall. Let them get hurt. Buy them the stupid things they want even if you arent 100% into it. As for elderly and other shoppers...yah ok- if your kid cannot skate in a straight line on a wheel the size of a quarter then by all means, pad them up and give them a helmet... my kids can handle that much and I know they arent so stupid that they cannot control themselves around god forbid innocent people who arent wearing heelys.

I never said the world would end , I said it would be funny to watch. I bet if your kid got hit by a car because of being careless and suffered a MAJOR injury you would not think these shoes are so great.

Well ladies/ men once they are basiclly banned from everyplace, the parents can sit and look at there fancy sneakers with dumb wheels and wonder why they spent 60 +$ on them.

they are really kinda ugly anyhow.

My kids would rather use that toward a new bike, or on the trip we planned. I think once they saw kids falling in them they thought no thanks:thumbsup2 :teacher:

But what I'm trying to point out (and others too) is this isn't just about *your* kids getting hurt. It's about other people too. There's a time and a place for everything and sometimes heely's are going to be inappropriate. I think it's safe to say they've been banned from places for a reason.

Thats fantastic. Give your kids a pat on the head. Thank goodness they wouldnt want to branch out and try something different for fear of failure!

:rotfl: you are a real piece of work, you know it. Aren't you the one saying accidents happen...well, if your kids who aren't so stupid ran into someone and seriously hurt them (by accident of course), would you be prepared to pay their medical bills? And for what it is worth, my dd is involved in physical sports and getting hurt as a part of that sport comes with the territory. But I shouldn't have to worry about taking my dd into a place and having her getting ran over by kids wheeling around on a pair of shoes that have no business being in that place. An ounce of prevention goes a long way, ya know.

No, actually, they are shoes with with wheels...aka roller skates. But, you didn't answer my question...would you or would you not offer to pay the medical bills of a person your child hurt while using these things in an inappropriate place?

Who wouldnt? Thats besides the point. The point is that heelys are not the root of all evil. My goodness...it just amazes me the parents on this board. I grew up doing a lot of stupid stuff and my parents let us. We learned by it. My brothers and sisters were big into skateboarding- my parents let them build ramps. The neighbors hated us, but we learned our parents had our back and defended us and helped us learn to live. I think that is the most important lesson. Not hiding your kids from experiencing fear, pain and consequences.

OK, perhaps they are not the root of all evil but you come off as incredibily inconsiderate about where/when you allow your children to wear their heelys. We are all telling you that it's not your child's safety you should only be concerned about but rather the other people's safety, not to mention they shouldn't have to put up with it period in public places where heelys are banned. What part of this are you not getting???? If you choose to let your children do things that may get them hurt, that is your decision...but don't subject other's to it.

.....OR RULES..

Not only are they dangerous, but they are not allowed. What are you teaching your children when you tell them they they are above the rules?

Our pediatric office has flyers posted not only banning the shoes in thier office but suggesting that parents not allow children to use these shoes.

BTW.. I saw a toddler ran over by a child on these shoes at the mall a few months ago. I thought the child's father was going to clobber the kid on skates. The kid on skates mom "yelled" at her child but did not even offer an appoligy to the hurt toddler or her parents.
