Heath Ledger has passed away :MEMORIAL PICS POSTED

We had a 21 year old die of "natural causes" in our town after playing a game of hockeyand going home.... it was his heart.
There have also been young teenagers who die of "natural causes" in our area--heart or aneurysms.

If that is what Heath Ledger died from, wouldn't those results be brought up in an autopsy? The autopsy results were inconclusive. If it were a heart attack, there would definitely be scarring.

Yes, I remember that. I'm so glad she found happiness!:)
I remember that story too and was very happy she found another love.

On another note, the Denver Broncos had two players die during last offseason. One was from a gunshot wound but the other collapsed right after a basketball game that supported a charity that helps raise money for heart transplants. His brother had had a heart transplant. Everyone originally assumed that something had happened to his heart but the autopsy never produced conclusive results as to what happened to him. He was only 24.

A few years ago, one of DH's best employees, and a good friend passed away. We had known him, since he was in jr. high.

He was working out at the gym, at 10 pm and didn't feel right. Went home, and didn't show up to work the next day. Work called the police, and they went over to his apt, and found him in bed--he had died of a heart attack at age 31.:sad1:

To make matters worse the officer who found him was another good friend--actually his best friend, who had been working out with him the night before, and had drove him home.:sad1:

Long story short--heart attacks in young people happen often, often from heart issues that had never been caught, because they were healthy, and never had the need for EKG, MRI, etc.

I would think if that is what happened to Ledger, we would have known it from the prelim. autopsy results.

I took these with my cell phone, so you may want to lighten them to see them better. I don't know how to lighten them. People were leaving beautiful notes and flowers and candles. The mood was somber, not like a circus atmosphere. Some people were saying prayers. It was a very moving memorial. Some of the letters I read there really touched me.

Thank you for posting those pictures. What a beautiful memorial. I never saw any of his work. I have seen some clips from 10 Things I Hate About You and Brokeback Mountain on youtube since he died and it just makes me very, very sad. It really makes me want to cry. I'm not sure why I am being affected so much by this. He just seemed like a person who sincerely was intrerested in acting and his craft.

He was a famous guy that was a regular person. When we'd see him walking in the neighborhood or eating in the carib cafe, no one bothered him, but just to call out How ya doin' heath! And he's wave back. He so wanted to do his craft which he loved, minus the "put-me-on-a-pedestal" attitude. What a terrible loss. He would have been a great role model for young actors.

Did you see her when she tried to skate without him? It was 1996 and she broke down crying on the ice....I was at WDW and cried, and cried and cried. It broke my heart, I will never forget it.:sad1:

I remember watching the memorial skate show they did and they kept showing their daughter. I sat there with my mom, grandma, and aunt just bawling, all of us, passing the tissues around. :sad1:

I have been a big fan of Heath Ledger for many years. If you want to see some of his wonderful works I suggest "The Patriot" where he played one of the lead characters and was amazing. I also loved him in "A Knights' Tale". He was just a beautiful person to watch and a great actor in the making. He has other parts which I have not seen and plan to when I get the chance. I will remember him most in those movies because they "spoke" to me the most.

I know there are so many things being said and posted but when it all is over we are all just human beings who have families and die. The hardest part is what those families have to go through. I hope the media will recognize how hurtful all this hype is but I know in my heart they won't. I know I will miss seeing him act and my sympathies go out to his family.

I have skimmed here so forgive if there is ignorance...
About the Ambien and about Cool-Beans...
Honestly, maybe the doctors who RX this stuff should be taken into the morgue and given a talking to. I hate Ambien. Maybe it works great for some, but I got an RX for it, took it as directed and thought I wasn't going to wake up! It's not even like sleep for me... it's more like a temporary coma! Really bad stuff for me. And as for cool beans, she has to do what she thinks is right to teach her kids to stay off drugs. AT LEAST SHE IS TRYING! Do any of you have any ideas for her, if you are so against the way she is doing it? If you see someone you think needs help, why not help them instead of try to knock them down and then rub their nose in it? If it wasnt Health Ledger (Who I really liked) lets say it was some scum-bag who most people despise and she took that same approach. I'm sure there would be a few others doing it, too. For the record I dont teach my kids like that... but if I felt it might save their life you bet your butt I'd do it.

I stayed out of that discussion with cool beans...but let me just say if you have to wait for a bad thing "someone passing due to drugs" to talk to your kids about drugs then you have bigger problems at hand. You should not need an excuse to talk to your children about drugs or any other matter! All cool beans needs to do is simply sit down one day and discuss drugs...if she need to have a "star" to point out there are plenty who have died in the past she can bring up...but to WISH anyone has died a certain way is uncalled for. It would be like me saying man I hope..Star X died form AIDS so I can talk to my kids about safe sex. It is sick and dispicable. I would never wish somethign bad on anyone, and thats what she was hopeing for. By all means talk to your kids.. But you do not need an excuse like a stars death to do it. You should be doing it anyway.

That is not how i would choose to teach my kids either, that is a real family with real pain and NO ONE knows why he died yet and so far no one thought it was a lets get high and take to many drugs kind of thing...he may have been not feeling well and forgot he took something and took it again...no one knows yet.I take ambien also and i have no trouble with it at all, it makes me fall asleep fast but if I hear my kids or if the phone rings i wake up, I am sure it is not the same for everyone who takes it.....I dont think that is what killed him...the doc on cnn said ambien alone wont kill you.

A heart attack would have been noted on autopsy....so, we know it wasn't that ( I just read the TMZ report that said it might have been a heart attack).

This isn't true... we had a friend who was 42, the autopsy showed nothing in particular, tests were sent out and everything came back clean as a whistle. His heart just stopped beating... it was really terrible. He was supposed to run the Pan Mass Challenge the next day, really terrible.... Here was an assummably healthy guy who just dropped dead while sitting on his bed :( terrible...

So, I read all this at about 3:oo AM... I didnt realize she said she was hoping anyone died of something in particular. I agree that you should talk to your kids in casual conversation about it for sure. I talk to my kids about various things just in the middle of any conversation we may be having where it might fit. When I was a kid my older brother had a friend who died drunk driving. At his funeral his mom lifted his head up to show the young kids (he was 19) that half his head was gone. Her message "dont let this happen to you". I doubt she wanted to do that, but saw the chance to HOT HOME to some kids. Like I said, I was a kid and of course not there when it happened... but here I am 30 years later still talking about it. Also, I will tell you I used the insane Brittany Spears to point things out to my daughter. I didnt sit around and hope she flipped her lid, but since it happened....

Chris Nolan, the director of "Dark Knight" posted a tribute on the Dark Knight blog that was very touching.

One night, as I’m standing on LaSalle Street in Chicago, trying to line up a shot for “The Dark Knight,” a production assistant skateboards into my line of sight. Silently, I curse the moment that Heath first skated onto our set in full character makeup. I’d fretted about the reaction of Batman fans to a skateboarding Joker, but the actual result was a proliferation of skateboards among the younger crew members. If you’d asked those kids why they had chosen to bring their boards to work, they would have answered honestly that they didn’t know. That’s real charisma—as invisible and natural as gravity. That’s what Heath had.

Heath was bursting with creativity. It was in his every gesture. He once told me that he liked to wait between jobs until he was creatively hungry. Until he needed it again. He brought that attitude to our set every day. There aren’t many actors who can make you feel ashamed of how often you complain about doing the best job in the world. Heath was one of them.

One time he and another actor were shooting a complex scene. We had two days to shoot it, and at the end of the first day, they’d really found something and Heath was worried that he might not have it if we stopped. He wanted to carry on and finish. It’s tough to ask the crew to work late when we all know there’s plenty of time to finish the next day. But everyone seemed to understand that Heath had something special and that we had to capture it before it disappeared. Months later, I learned that as Heath left the set that night, he quietly thanked each crew member for working late. Quietly. Not trying to make a point, just grateful for the chance to create that they’d given him.

Those nights on the streets of Chicago were filled with stunts. These can be boring times for an actor, but Heath was fascinated, eagerly accepting our invitation to ride in the camera car as we chased vehicles through movie traffic—not just for the thrill ride, but to be a part of it. Of everything. He’d brought his laptop along in the car, and we had a high-speed screening of two of his works-in-progress: short films he’d made that were exciting and haunting. Their exuberance made me feel jaded and leaden. I’ve never felt as old as I did watching Heath explore his talents. That night I made him an offer—knowing he wouldn’t take me up on it—that he should feel free to come by the set when he had a night off so he could see what we were up to.

When you get into the edit suite after shooting a movie, you feel a responsibility to an actor who has trusted you, and Heath gave us everything. As we started my cut, I would wonder about each take we chose, each trim we made. I would visualize the screening where we’d have to show him the finished film—sitting three or four rows behind him, watching the movements of his head for clues to what he was thinking about what we’d done with all that he’d given us. Now that screening will never be real. I see him every day in my edit suite. I study his face, his voice. And I miss him terribly.

Back on LaSalle Street, I turn to my assistant director and I tell him to clear the skateboarding kid out of my line of sight when I realize—it’s Heath, woolly hat pulled low over his eyes, here on his night off to take me up on my offer. I can’t help but smile.

Cardiac arrest is NOT a heart attack. A heart attack/myocardial infarction is an incident in which a part of the heart dies. This scars the heart and results in dead tissue which would be picked up on autopsy.

I totally agree with this! It was cruel and disgusting for someone to post that they hoped it was drugs so they could teach their kids a lesson.

Horned King I love your banners for Heath - they are very nice! I am still upset over Heath's passing. He was such an incredible actor and I looked forward to seeing the roles that he would play in the future.
