Loved the update. My favorite times have always been the unexpected encounters with the Cast Members!! That is what keeps me coming back time after time-great customer service!!

Yep - that kind of customer service is what makes Disney so special. It's why I love the Disney cruises so much - they take it to a whole new level!

A Canine Disney Thug????​

The next morning, we were up and out the door before 7:30.

​

Our good transportation karma continued, and we were on a bus by 7:30.

​

We arrived at the MK at 7:45.

​

We made the quick walk over to the monorail.

​

And we were on a monorail at 7:48 - seriously, our transportation luck was a real blessing on this trip.

​

I’m thinking some of you may have guessed where we were headed based on DD’s attire. Thanks to Shannon, Miss Willow was Lilo Willow this morning! (And even more thanks to Shannon - her sending Willow this dress was the inspiration (along with Shannon herself who cheered me on nonstop) for me to learn how to sew, which has become one of my favorite things ever!)

Soon we were checked in at ‘Ohana and in line to get our picture done.

This line took FOREVER. Our buzzer actually went off while we were still several families back in line. At least that meant we were seated immediately after getting the picture done.

​

Before we knew it, Lilo was there! She was great - she helped Willow with her chair to get out, loved the dress. (It was REALLY crowded in here with the tables very close to each other, so it was hard for the characters to maneuver between tables.)

The chef who came out about my gluten problem was extremely nice and accommodating - he prepared separate platters of food for me and DD, including gluten-free Mickey waffles for me! Unfortunately, I wasn’t hungry at all, so I am sad to say that most of the yummy food went to waste.

But DD was psyched to see Stitch since we hadn’t run into him yet this trip. Willow reminded him all about how two years ago, he had thrown her autograph pen over and over at the MK. Stitch denied doing it and tried to blame Pluto who was nearby. Stitch was pretty happy with our autograph page as well.

A Canine Disney Thug???? Cont.​

These pictures crack me UP because you can tell that Willow was talking poor Stitch’s ear off!

Mickey was next and very cute and very fast as he always seems to be at WDW.

​

And then we met a thug.

So, Pluto was having a great time with the family next to us - we were super-excited to see him because we knew we were next after that family, and Pluto was in rare form. He had to take a quick break though, and when he returned, well, Pluto was not Pluto. It was SO weird. Now I have never met a Disney character and even thought about the fact that there was a person in there who wasn’t the character - they are so amazing at it that even adults can forget and just enjoy. This Pluto though - oh man, this Pluto. It was like the person who was supposed to be acting as Pluto’s “friend” had suddenly gotten sick or something and they had pulled in some surly guy off the street to do the job.

First, we went to give him the autograph book so he could sign (since he always signs on his nose), and he kind of slammed his paw on the table to indicate that we needed to put it back on the table. And then he couldn’t make the pen work (it was a sharpie that had worked for every preceding character and every character who came after), and kind of thrust it at me in a nasty way until I got out a new pen for him. He then signed the book on the table, which I have NEVER seen Pluto do before.

And then, he didn’t even pose for the pic - he just stood there in a thug-like stance, not looking at the camera. He didn’t even try to hear what Willow was saying when she talked to him. He didn’t give a hug or a pat or anything. It was the weirdest character experience we have EVER had. He was a total THUG. You can kind of even tell from the pics!

This one just makes me mad - he couldn’t turn towards the camera? He couldn’t put an arm around DD?

​

Dang - I’m not kidding - this was the weirdest and most disturbing character meet I have ever seen. Luckily, DD didn’t seem to notice too much and didn’t hold it against her beloved Pluto. I wish I could explain though how totally weird this character meet was - it is so hard to tell from the pictures, but it was just uncomfortable and weird. Like I felt like we were actually making Pluto angry by wanting his autograph and a picture. It was so strange!!!!

After our meet with Pluto, we were pretty done with ‘Ohana. But we had not received our photo print yet, so as we were leaving our table, I asked one of our “cousins” about it. He took us to a PP person who walked us across the lobby to a PP desk where he proceeded to spend 20 minutes trying to print the picture. It turned out that he didn’t know how to select the right size - he couldn’t find the right screen. I wish he would have mentioned that was the problem because I had noticed the screen and the place to select the sizes multiple times while he was clicking around. We did finally get our picture.

And you CAN tell that the Pluto pics are a bit "out of the norm". Weird behaviour. Mickey should make him sleep in the doghouse for a while.

lilo willow is adorable! perfect outfit! your pictures made me so excited for our lilo and stitch breakfast (as it's called at our house). we've never gone, so it's even more exciting to be trying something new! but, i'll be keeping an eye on pluto! what was his deal? you can totally tell in the picture by how he's standing that he's in a mood. not cool, pluto, not cool! however, those pictures of stitch and willow are too much! love love love them!

What a cutie Lilo Willow was! My girls love that breakfast. My oldest is a huge Stitich fan so we go there just about every trip. I agree, they cram those tables in so close there that you can barely get around, much less take a picture with a character.

As far as the Thug, we've never had an encounter as bad as you did but we've had some that are less than stellar. Your Thug was more than likely not the Pluto that was interacting with the family before you. I have a friend who used to be a friend of Goofy's and their schedule is 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Now, that does not excuse that type of behavior and if they aren't into being a friend of a character then they need to sweep up trash in the MK!

Bummer about the encounter but glad that it didn't seem to phase Willow.

Pluto needed to be dragged off the floor by his ears, if your not ready to interact with everyone maybe it would have been a good day to call in sick. I understand everyone has an off day, thankfully Willow didn't seem to notice.
Goofy is my favorite so I'm always glad to see him get some love!

Pluto fainted and Mickey burst into tears...they didn't want it to get out, when Pluto took that fire hydrant break he was DOG NAPPED !!!!! An irate and jealous cat...I think her name was Marie ? conned a Pointer look a like to hit Pluto on the head shove him in a closet and take his place The substitute wannabe was found out by WDW Security IMMEDIATELY and got him apprehended Mickey apologizes and is trying to revive our boy now

What a bummer about that Pluto! I think when you are in the Disney bubble you get so used to all service being above and beyond when something is not perfect it really stands out. It's just a shame Pluto was such a thug! Still looks like a great breakfast though.

Oh, yes, I am 100% certain that they had subbed out "friends." However, it really felt like they grabbed some surly guy off the street and stuck him in a Pluto costume. It was just so odd - but it definitely shows how GOOD all the other character CMs are. I really never think about the characters as being anything but characters when we meet them, so having this Pluto be so un-Pluto really stood out.

Yep - from her vantage point, she really couldn't tell that he was so weird. And after so many wonderful experiences, she wasn't going to be phased by this experience.

It was truly bizarre. And I do think that it speaks volumes to how AMAZING the character CMs are 99.9999% of the time that he stood out as much as he did.

Goofy is my favorite so I'm always glad to see him get some love!

Phew!!! I'm so glad to finally have a plausible explanation! An imposter! I should have known! Poor Plute-y. I'm glad to report that he apparently made a perfect recovery, because we ran into him a few more times over the next week and a half, and he was clearly the REAL Pluto!

Yes - I do think that this Pluto made me VERY aware of how great 99.9999% of the character CMs are. But this experience was truly weird. I mean, I really felt uncomfortable when Pluto got angry about the autograph book. However, in all our character meets, this is the ONLY really odd one we have ever had. So that definitely says something about Disney characters!
