Heard some FP kiosks were uncovered in MK today

Check out the rumors opening dates thread in the news section. A cast member told the thread starter that they might announce this week on the 30th of June opening reservations to book fast pass but won’t actually be implemented to use them until July 31st.

Ugh, I don’t like the sound of that lol. July trip here. It does make sense though. Thanks for sharing

This week is either going to make us the happiest people, or the most disappointed. 50/50 chance. Here we go

Ain’t that the truth. I’m reading through that thread now that you referenced. I’m not fully caught up with it yet but I def agree with your earlier takes in the mid-pages, that whenever they announce fastpass it’ll come back immediately and not be a “it’s coming back in a month” announcement. (I think that’s how Disney can effectively avoid everyone trying to change their vacation dates so they get fastpass). I know you mentioned that CM said that might not be the case to the OP so maybe that’s new, I’ll keep reading though.

But yea, either way, this sounds like we’re in for some sort of ride this week. Fingers crossed it works out for both of us.

I've done all three systems multiple times having lived in both Florida and California. I liked Maxpass the best, as we were able to utilize it well, especially towards the end of the day. It was also less stressful ahead of time. I found it worth the $$. Of course, Disneyland is a different animal. Not sure how it would work in the 4 park system.

Either way, I like knowing that I can get a few rides without long lines, especially the headliners. It's hard to shell out for a ticket thinking that we won't be able to ride our favorite ride even once without waiting on a super long line. I hope they bring something back soon. I keep hesitating about heading back knowing that there is nothing in place.
This is spot on. We’ve used FP, FP+, and MaxPass all countless times. MaxPass is by far the best system and easily the least stressful!

They had learned they could ignore the return times for one- people would collect them in the mornings and use them at busier times and they focused on getting the headliners so they could ride multiple times a day. They would also bring magic bands from friends or family and use them to get additional fp's. Disney did eventually start requiring in park validation, but it was a big problem for a long time.

No offense, but when was the last time that you went to Disney World with FP+. None of what you said was true of any recent FP+ implementation.

1) You could not ignore the return times. If I remember right, there was a five minute grace period before your timeslot and maybe 10 minutes after? That was it.
2) The loophole regarding extra Magic bands was closed many years ago.

That was not the FP+ system in recent years

Was he referring to the legacy fastpass? Because that was easily manipulated.

I don’t doubt this, but Disneyland and Disney World are different beasts.

Not directed at you specifically but just a general observation …People don’t generally go to Disneyland for 7 to 10 nights, however that is very common at Disney World. Even with the somewhat reasonable price of max pass, it would add up to a significant cost increase for park guests if they were to implement something like maxpass at Disneyworld.

Take our family of five for example, our 10 night stay coming up later in July would incur $1000 in extra cost for maxpass. When we have had a system that worked “for free” before, FP+, sadly that extra cost would be a dealbreaker for us.

It may have been a mix of both. Either way none of the things mentioned were options for years. Yes, the paper fast passes could be accumulated in the morning and then used after the official time window any time later in the day. However legacy fastpass has been gone for something like six years I would guess.

The extra MagicBand FP+ loophole was also closed years ago.

No offense, but we weren't talking about FP+. We were talking about legacy FP. The last time I was at WDW? Late 2019 and have been going since long before legacy or FP+ existed. My original post on this subject was that the paper FP system was full of loopholes to be taken advantage of. The only issue with FP+ was the MB loophole which, if you read my comment, I said WDW took care of eventually.
Legacy FP ended in 2014, as I recall. Not sure what your issue is. I'm a huge fan of FP+ and always have been. I was not a fan of legacy and was happy to see it replaced.

Just to keep you up to speed, this was my original comment " I meant the old FP system wasn't working. People had learned how to game it and it was just failing." That's why we got FP+. " Sometimes it helps to read up the thread before you comment.

Sorry, I have no issue. This thread is about FP+ kiosks and the possibility of FP+ returning. Signals got mixed, for me anyway, when you started throwing legacy fast pass issues, and previous FP+ issues in there. I apologize.

I too hope for the seamless return of FP+.

I'm hyped. This is such good news whether active of not. There is a light coming... :cheer2:

It is good news. I see no reason for them to be out and uncovered if they aren't going to be used very soon. What's really exciting is it looks like they're actually working on them! I'd settle for in park FP only if that's the best I can get although I'd much prefer to book online. I'm very hopeful they'll be available for our trip at the end of next month. I just wish Disney would say something, the suspense is killing me!

OMG. Please tell me no one is thinking that these random kiosks will be the only way to get FP? Even if it's only day of, we can still use the app to get them?

I've seen nothing that would indicate they're going to be in park only. I was just saying I'd take it if it was all I could get. Sure makes no sense to me that they wouldn't allow use of the app. The lines for the kiosks would be longer than the lines for the rides themselves.

Almost everything with Disney World has been thrown into the mobile experience. Quick service orders, park reservations, check ins, even shopping is getting added into the mix, etc. With that in mind, I think there is approx ZERO chance that they will somehow go back to a machine-only fastpass with no app/mobile abilities.

We get there on August 7th. How will that work for those of us who are August people?
